The Twins have optioned outfielder Kyler Fedko to Triple-A after Thursday's loss against Cleveland. This likely makes room for Ryan Jeffers to return from the injured list in the upcoming series against the Angels.

Fedko was on the major league roster for about three weeks, where he played in 14 games, going 0-16 with eight strikeouts. His first major league hit will have to wait, as he will be back with Triple-A St. Paul this weekend. He was mostly used as a pinch runner and defensive replacement in his appearances with the Twins.

It's telling that Alex Jackson is staying.  3 catchers is hard to pull off, but if Jeffers is available for trade we can't afford to lose Jackson.

This was my call awhile back. Jeffers will show he’s back, and the Twins will trade him to the Yankees.

Now he knows what to work on to make it back to MLB.

Does he though, he really wasn't given a chance.  So what he should work on is his base running.

0 for 16 with 8 strikeouts was a good lesson.

Six AB's and four strikeouts in his last two games when he was obviously pressing after not getting an AB for 12 days.

Look I don't know if Fedko is a AAAA type or if he can be a productive player in the big leagues but he was given no real chance.  And he isn't the first they have this done this to.  I would like to see everyone utilized on the roster and he wasn't.  We don't know anything more today about Fedko than we did when he first came up, when he actually looked a little better at the plate.

Hopefully he goes down  and pounds AAA pitching and they recall him. They need to trade Jeffers for a top minor league pitcher and a couple low level prospects and maybe a Bullpen low leverage guy.

He might want to work on a college degree if he doesn’t already have one.

He’s got two months of control left……. don’t think he can bring back 4 guys.

The Twins have indeed done similar things to young players before. Fedko was playing basically everyday at AAA, batting in the middle of the order. I expect that has been true his whole minor league career. He comes to the park, is in the lineup almost everyday, it makes no difference which hand the pitcher throws with.

When he gets to the majors he sits on the bench till a lefthander starts, probably comes out the game if a right handed enters the game. He gets no ab's for 12 days.  Wonder why he struggled?

Now the problem is, that this is probably his role if he manages to carve out a major league career. He is not a top prospect, his skill set is a bit limited and there seems to be a lot of other higher rated prospects in the upper levels of the Twins system. Nevertheless this a tough way to treat a guy on his first look in the majors.

This has been the hard reality for many prospects, most even, for generations. Why does Fedko rate some soft and nurturing path to a job?

He came out of no where, wasn't impressive outside his walks, and bubbled up thru the system until he started hitting the ball hard last year. There are better players surrounding him in St Paul, but he was able to get a look because his one advantage over them was being healthy when the opportunity came knocking. Alas he didn't perform, but his pattern all along has been to scuffle a bit in his first year at a level. The first time in his career he managed a decent showing in a debut was his 2025 AAA work last year, so if he hangs around he'll get another chance in Mpls and maybe he'll be better.

MLB is a tough way to make a living so I'm not going to worry too much about fairness here. He got a shot many kids would give their eye teeth for and it didn't work out. Keep working and better luck next time.

Fedko was totally overmatched by MLB pitching. Was he pressing? Maybe, but there was utterly no signs of an MLB caliber hitter there. I don't understand the investment of fans in Fedko.

DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. is a perfect comp. He's currently in the ATL organization at AAA with a .262/.314/.367 wRC+ 80. The International League is utterly devoid of pitching, and the shiny stats down there often don't translate to MLB. Guys who make it at the MLB level rarely struggle for multiple years in the minors like Fedko and Keirsey did.

Fedko made it to the big show against all odds and with dubious qualifications. I think that's pretty awesome for him.

I don't think the Twins will be getting all that much for three months of Jeffers

And it sure sounds like the baseball community is very aware that players have significantly reduced hand strength the season they return from a broken hamate bone. Unless Jeffers comes out blasting a half dozen home runs in the next two weeks, I'm sure any suitor will be skeptical.

I think it's tough to say based on the potential of losing 2027 and with so many teams close to the wild card this year. Regarding Jeffer's value, his walk and K rates were doing a lot of lifting for his plate value. Not sure how teams will view him. It's likely his power will be back by October when it really counts.

What are his exit velos this week?

No, top prospects aren't treated that way and prospects who have a good chance to carve out a regular role aren't treated that way either.  It is hard for anyone to go from playing everyday to playing very sporadically.  That is what happened to Clemens for example. When he got regular playing time he went from being considered a AAAA player to a middle of the order bat.

Now I agree, Fedco may be lucky to get any major league run whatsoever. Nevertheless you really can't tell much about whether he has a major league bat when a player is used that way. Especially on his very 1st major league call up.
