Someone posted in a recent game thread the high incidence of Twins relievers coming in and immediately walking a batter. I didn’t look for data about it but it seems accurate. Likely it’s just a function of having poor relievers. But just one a many “little things” that cap you around 78 wins.

Royce is not great at first.

The throw pulled him off of the base.  He has played there for two weeks, are you expecting Gold Glove defense.  This team seems to think this is Little League and you just pull names out of a hat to determine which position you will play.

See, here's the deal- 7-1 lead, and you come in fresh and walk the leadoff guy.  There should be a bus ticket to St Paul waiting on your seat in the dugout.  Next play, infield laziness, and suddenly 2 on, no out.

We may get out of this one unscathed, but it's still no excuse. 🤨

So will they sit Clemens for that throw on Friday night, probably not, if it was Keaschall you bet they would.

Not expecting that. An average MLB first baseman probably still gets the out. Not blaming him, he’s just out of position.

If you want average defense, then you make this move in the offseason, not mid season.

This is the consequence of having players so not established in their positions that they are moved around in season hoping they find a home defensively and/or show enough as hitters to “stick”. Ideally we aren’t doing this all season with multiple players but there’s always going to be adjustments. Some of them work out, but a lot don’t.

I must admit that I did not believe the Twins would be playing this well...they are in striking distance of being a 500 team at the all star break......Heard the broadcaster for the World Cup game gave the analysis that the USA team had BIG BALLS...don't think that I have ever heard a broadcaster coin that phrase

Ok, I take back that 'unscathed' remark.

We are now officially scathed.  And will probably get even more frickin scathed.

Next crab outta the bucket, please! 😞

You can't completely shuffle your infield on the fly by putting everyone in different positions and expect that it will always be smooth.  The lack of planning in the offseason put them in this spot. Zoll needs to go, he can't put together a roster that will win.

I would be making a call to St Paul and tell them not to throw Rojas tonight as he needs a plane to New York.  I'm unsure that he is the answer, but he is closer to it than Laweryson.

Maybe, but he walks a ton of guys too.
