Unrelated to Fedko, but I wonder if a trade for Arcia can be completed, given his DFA status. It would be great if they could swing a swap for a reliever with upside to help this bullpen. Maybe they tried to trade Arcia before going DFA route and couldn’t find a taker. Or Twins hope Arcia won’t be claimed and they can keep him at AAA. Hoping they can turn Arcia into something, but it may not be possible.

Arcia could sign a minor league contract this offseason, what has he done that would make a team really think he is now the answer two months later.  Maybe the famous cash considerations could be obtained for him.

“He’s become a fan favorite, among fans who get attached to low-ceiling prospects…”

Hey! That’s a low blow!

I'm sorry but I like underdogs, late bloomers players. They should have called him up a long time ago. Especially when Jeffers went down & Caratini caught regularly. Fedco should play against all LHPs, I don't know how well he does against RHPs. They should give him  as many quality ABs as possible.

I'd like the Twins adopt CLE's philosophy of developing & giving opportunity to such players. Ernie Clement is a late bloomer & helped TOR get to the WS. Twins analytics often write off such in-house players & not give much of an opportunity.

DaShawn Keirsey and Carson McCusker walked so Kyler Fedko could run (straight into the hearts of Twins fans)

Injuries have thinned out the supply of shortstops in the meantime.

Playing in St. Paul is so skewed that an OPS of .823 is below the team average OPS of .839. I don’t know what Fedko’s talent is based on the sample but if his ability against right handed pitching is truly reflected in his below team average OPS then I think he is going to have a really difficult time against major league right handed pitching. Slash stats need a huge sample though so he may be better than that St. Paul context .823 suggests.

I suppose his upside is Austin Slater who is trying to hang on in his 10th year of a career as a short side platoon bat that can be used around the outfield with even some use in the infield. Slater was a pretty useful player for the Giants ages 26-30.

When an entire team is producing a combined OPS higher than all but two individual players on the Twins roster. Also consider that the St. Paul Saints are 3rd in team OPS in the IL. Yeah... those numbers are going to be skewed.

Weather Fedko can do it or not... I won't place a bet but I'm less concerned with Fedko than I am with the 7 players below .684 OPS on the current roster.

I've heard theories that you can knock .200 points off AAA numbers to the majors... maybe but I don't think there is anything in the sport of baseball that consistent or mathematically proven. I have seen players who produced better in the majors than they did at AAA. Luke Keaschall produced a .710 OPS in AAA last year. Went .827 with the big club. Tristan Peters was .784 in Durham last year. 804 with the White Sox this year.

Austin Slater? Please no. This team has no business developing short side platoon specialists. None. This team hasn't been able to develop hitters period and we are going to run our prospects through partially.

Fedko may fail but let him take a rip. We have 7 players below .684 out of 13. Maybe he can produce a .686.
