I don't know if there are five teams who would claim him for the waiver fee.

Just takes one, and I think there's a 95% chance Larnach would be claimed. It's just about the writer's position the Twins could free up some payroll capacity by moving Larnach. He's not a bad player and it's not a bad contract.

Josh Bell would be the guy I'd move if I could. No better than Larnach at the plate, but costs even more. Of course, the Twins would almost certainly have to toss in a prospect since the contract projects as underwater at $7MM

Larnach for Skenes, let's do it!

Dang it, you beat me to it.  I was going to suggest Skubal...but whatever!  That said, trade him for anything at all to unload his salary and open up at-bats for the guys coming up.

It seems forced to correlate Larnachs underwhelming roster redundancy with trying to fill a rotation spot. It’s not like the  Lopez injury suddenly made us realize that Larnach (who I don’t hate) was not really adding anything, and likely causing a logjam on the roster. It’s just the same old bad/questionable roster construction that we’ve gotten used to.

Tauchman had to settle for a minor league contract. Kepler is unemployed, maybe he will end up with the Royals.

Any trade of any kind with the Cubs would have to include getting 1B Jonathan Long in return.  Start with that player as the focus of what we want in return and then structure a complement of players that the Twins can offer for his services as well as any other of their players to receive in return.

I'd still love to flip Larnach for a reliever.

Even if we are able to do that, it most likely will be a relief pitcher with an injury history. As others have said, I just don't see that Larnach has any real/quality trade value at this point.

The troubling part about Larnach is that not only have we not gotten the kind of production one would expect from someone with his credentials, we've never even gotten a glimpse of that kind of production.

Has no value. Could just DFA and hope a team claims him?

I think he has value.   He might be the best hitter amongst a group of cloans.   I think all would think different if he had a 1B glove on, as I think that increases his value - not sure why it hasn't been done.
