Sorry wasn't clear, I was trying to add on to what you were saying, not push back against it. I think we can expect players to act like professionals independent of the manager. Not everything has to be blamed on him. There's already enough legitimately put on him. USAFChief 1

A person--say a guy in charge of team play...a guy to manage all this--who could emphasize these kinds of things. Maybe teach them. Heck, even notice them before say, 7 years go by. Alas, there's just nothing that can be done Exactly my point, it's mid-August, and he finally gets we need to be better and more aggressive on the base paths..... kind of think these are supposedly MLB caliber players, how about being smart on the bases and operate within your limits. This isn't rocket science. USAFChief 1

I'm not saying managers shouldn't hold players accountable. I'm saying players are ultimately responsible for their own actions, and dumping it all on the manager every time absolves players of their personal accountability. A 21 year old doing it should be benched - Cox did the right thing. a 28 year old fringe player doing it should be DFA'd Parfigliano and mrtwinsfan 2

It’s not really about outman or any individual player. Every successful organization in sports or business or whatever, has someone or some people enforcing expectations or standards/practices. Clearly the twins don’t have that and haven’t for years. Clearly the players haven’t done that to this point either as referenced by their own comments, and the only one who ostensibly tried to, got shipped out of town and now “everyone can relax”, whatever that means. Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 You would think getting swept by the A’s is rock bottom. But it can get way worse than this for the remaining games. 95 losses is definitely in reach C-Gangster 1

I don't know if we're disagreeing as much as making two different points. I agree with you in general. Rocco's ship has been too loose for some time and no one wants him back. Just saying that if someone in Outman's position can't be internally motivated, then they really don't need to be here Aggies7 and Parfigliano 2
