Despite the extension, Rocco needs to go and if this is an organizational philosophy than Falvey needs to go now.  You don't pull a pitcher in this situation, he has been up here a year and a half, if he can't go any deeper than he needs to be moved to the bullpen.  This is two starts in a row Rocco has pulled Sim unnecessarily.  This makes no sense and is making it harder and harder to support this team.  Our rotation is very thin, we need someone to step up and Sim has been but this short leash is ridiculous.

All those extra innings here and there are gonna weigh those bullpen guys down in August-September.  You know, the time of year when you need them the most, when one or two tight games might make the difference between a wild card slot or the first tee.

(Except for Coulombe, of course, who did two weeks worth of his pitch count in one day today, so he's probably out til next Thursday.)

Starting to look like 2 runs is the Twins limit tonight.

That's because when they get the lead , they change their approach and start swinging for the fences again  ....

There’s nothing that can be done when the pre-game plan had him going 5, followed by emptying the bullpen in game one of the series.

That is why I am saying Falvey needs to go too, I know nothing will probably happen until ownership changes.  But I can hope against hope that the boy wonder Pohlad wakes up.

Every game isn’t game 7 of the World Series and doesn’t need to be managed like it. 2 run lead. Yank him if he puts a guy on if you trust him that little. He used two guys to get 3 outs. 4D chess

More like checkers with manhole covers.

Rocco has never had a clubhouse fall apart as Alex Cora did this season. That’s one example.

Isn’t that the guy who won a World Series a few years ago ?

Okay , let's change this up ...

Rocco is the worst manager the twins have ever had and we have tingler as bench coach and he was probably a worse manager for the padres  ...

Well gosh darnit what high are we riding with our manager? That big wild card 2 game sweep of the blue jays in 2023?

In my watching lifetime, maybe, but the Twins had some real ****** managers in the 70s and early 80s.

Well.. .Cora's team is at least closer to the playoffs than Rocco with a winning record. And he now has Alcala :)

Minus their best hitter, who had to be ****ing traded because of mismanagement from pretty much the entire org.

The guy who manages a team that is 7-3 in their last 10…above 500 in a very tough division, with a positive run differential…and 500 against teams with winning records…and for a team that zero people expected to do much this year? Yeah…I’d hate to have that guy. What a mess.

Not at all what I said.

Well what metric is Rocco better at him then? I remember some outward ugliness in the twins clubhouse last year when they absolutely tanked to finish the season. I’m not even arguing that Rocco is the worst but I just thought that was a funny example of someone who is worse than him.

This conversation started with me saying Rocco has never lost a clubhouse as Cora did this season. That’s literally how Rocco is better.

Not if you followed the Red Sox this season, as I have.

When Cora won his World Series all those years ago, HE LITERALLY MANAGED THE HIGHEST PAYROLL IN BASEBALL.

Yeah, the Twins' BP is rested because of the off day yesterday. They can't do it five days out of five, but they can get away with it for a lot of games. There was a comment earlier in the thread stating categorically that the Twins wouldn't make postseason. It would be fireable for Rocco to manage for 2026 now. He's trying to win today and believes Coulombe, Stewart, Sands, Varland and Durán have a better chance of winning than Woods Richardson pitching the sixth. I don't like it, but most managers do the same thing. So far, the Twins have really had good health in their bullpen especially considering the pitchers' injury history and the back end has been very good. Will they wear down in September? Maybe, but they need wins right now.
