Matthew Lenz Twins Daily Editor Posted June 23, 2025 Posted June 23, 2025 The Minnesota Twins depth took another hit today, but this time it comes on the offensive side of the ball. After missing multiple games this weekend, Mickey Gasper, has been placed on the Triple-A injured list with plantar fasciitis. An issued that has plagued All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa in previous seasons. With the Twins in a 3-13 funk, some speculated whether recalling Gasper from Triple-A St. Paul could help the big-league club. Gasper, 30, was dominating with the Saints slashing .318/.418/.609 with 10 home runs. His production has resulted in a 165 wRC+. However, the same hasn't been true in his cup of coffee with the Twins this season. In 39 plate appearances, the switch hitter has a .488 OPS with just one extra base hit - a double - good for a wRC+ of 47. If the Twins plan to change things up, they may have to look at getting slugger Carson McCusker some at-bats, though he doesn't answer the Twins need for help on the dirt. Ryan Fitzgerald may be the next man up to fill that need, who has also been very productive for the Saints. Do you think anyone currently in Triple-A could help the Twins right the ship? The Twins don't play their AAA players after calling them up, they bury them on the bench and play the guys picked up off the waiver wire...

As much as I do not like saying it, but, take all the players that are too tired, semi-injured, etc. send them down on a brief IL and bring a snag of rookies up for two weeks - let's have a look. The Twins may do another resurgence (perhaps FO is giving Baldelli more than the Evil Eye) but some times a fool hardy move, works better than the status-quo. Doctor Wu 1

RpR Verified Member Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 I just checked the Saint roster; they have hitting coaches , pitching coaches but no one to coach the players fielding. Although, I guess that was obvious. Doctor Gast 1

Jasper Verified Member Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Giving up double digit runs every game is hitting the biggest problem? I think not! Doctor Gast and RpR 2

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 While i don't expect much of Gasper, it would be nice to have him available to see if his next opportunity might have him take a step forward and possibly provide some spark. Just hard to believe someone can hit that well at AAA and just be able to contribute some at the ML level. But the injury hits just keep coming! Don't look now, but if he keeps doing what he's been doing the past few weeks, Julien might be the next man up. Doctor Wu 1
