Even as a kid, it never makes sense to me that a fly ball that turns into a SF, isn't an at bat. Like you were never at the plate at all. And a wild pitch with no runners on, isn't still a wild pitch (or a passed ball). Like it never happened.

But as an adult you learned that a SF counts as a PA and lowers the players OBP, SLG, and OPS, thereby lowering his OPS+, possibly costing him $$$ in contract negotiations, all for a RBI, which is now thought of as a useless stat compared to the other stats I referenced in this post...

Agree.  They're playing at a band box of a ballpark against a below average pitching staff.  If he doesn't start the majority of the games in this series, he should have been moved so he could get some at bats, rest, or whatever he needs to get better out of the limelight.  For his sake as much as the teams.  The fact that he didn't start tonight brings up more questions about him and not less.
