There also will have to be a corresponding move of someone to the 60 day IL.-- ??  Wallner or Kuechell ?

No transactions mentioned on MLB as of 4:43 CDT

I doubt they would make two moves to the 40 man.  My feeling is Gasper is the next man called up if someone is needed and he does not belong in the major leagues.

The Twins could add Fitzgerald and send down a bullpen guy (Funderburk) to add a bench player for the next two days. With Paddack's good start yesterday, the bullpen is in pretty good shape and they are starting Ryan and Pablo in the next two days.

This is a good idea. MLB managers get stressed out with 12 pitchers though.

Just to add again - Fitzgerald is a good shortstop. I like Brooks Lee plenty but Fitz is actually a better shortstop if the Twins care about that.

Yeah, it would be 12 pitchers, but still an eight-man bullpen without Fundy.

Dan Hayes is reporting that Correa is on the 7-day concussion list and Fitzgerald has been activated.

Tonkin to 60 day

Makes sense. 1 of 3 different 60 moves they could have made.

Funderburk sticks around for today and Saturday, and goes down before Sunday to make room for, reportedly, Matthews. Could still be Festa, but Gleeman reported he got a little rest due to a "tired arm". Not unusual this point in the early season, so will probably be Matthews.

Buxton still being evaluated. It did look like Correa got the worst of the collision.

If Buck goes on the IL, things get interesting. The EASY move is to bring up someone already on the 40 man like Gasper, Miranda, or Julien. But would that be the SMART move? Miranda and Julien need to play daily for St Paul, and does Gasper really fill a need?

It feels like the Twins are holding McCusker back to let his K and BB % level out a bit. But this team needs someone who can provide some potential offense right now, if Buxton is also gone. He might not do great, but he might run in to a couple doubles or HR that could make a difference.

C4 to the 7 IL. Tonkin to the 60 IL. Fitzgerald called up. Likely Festa will make a spot start and maybe stick around after next week.
we are 1 OF injury away from either McCrusher or Erod. Erod may get the nod since he is on the 40 man.
I'm surprised LK isn't listed on the 60 man yet. We must be on the good Karma list since we are winning with a short bench and so many rookies/AAAA replacements.

Tonkin to 60-day dl.  Eligible to come off 60 day in May if I remember correctly.

Tonkin was placed on the 15-day IL March 26. His 60-day IL can be backdated to that date.

If Buxton is going to be out for at least a week and with Bader banged up, now is the time to call up the Mccrusher! We are going to need help scoring runs with no Buck or Correa. A lineup filled with Clemens, Bride, Vasquez and Keirsey? Looks more like a AAA or spring training lineup. I checked out our lineup yesterday. Of the 9 guys in our starting lineup, ONE guy had a batting avg over .250.....not a good look for a team trying to make the playoffs.

Where did you see Buxton will be out for at least a week?

I'm guessing he's in today's lineup.

I've been asking about Fitzgerald for a while. He can handle the bat.

2013 - a19, NCAA OPS .731 (Mediocre)
2014 - a20, NCAA OPS .668 (Poor)
2015 - a21, NCAA OPS .794 (Mediocre)
2016 - a22, NCAA OPS .610 (Poor), Undrafted
2017 - a23, Indy Ball OPS .695 (Poor)
2018 - a24, Low A wRC+ 109 (Mediocre)
2019 - a25, A+ wRC+ 109 (Mediocre)
2020 - NA
2021 - a27, AA wRC+ 128 (Good)
2022 - a28, AAA wRC+ 85 (Poor)
2023 - a29, AAA wRC+ 103 (Mediocre)
2024 - a30, AAA wRC+ 95 (Poor)
2025 - a31, AAA wRC+ 153 (Great) -> 148 PA, .398 BABIP, This guy can handle the bat!!!

He's a bad hitter, but the Twins will be able to DFA him without anybody claiming him, and he should be able to adequately cover middle infield. The Twins can't feel too comfortable about Fitzgerald's defense if they started Lee at shortstop over him.
