Fitsgerald is probally their short term choice. I see on BAL website that they claimed Blewett. Didn't know he was DFAed.

I don't think the twins necessarily need to go chase a SS if Correa is out for a while: Lee can handle it with Castro at least as well as any option they might pull up from AA or AAA, or from a free agent on the street. But it does thin out the infield quite a bit with Miranda deservedly demoted and injured, Royce still not close enough to returning, Keaschall not in a position to handle 3B even he'd had experience there, Martin (also not really a 3B option) injured...they could definitely use another guy who can play one of the spots on the left side of the infield and the choices aren't good. Severino had 2 errors in 2 games at 3B for the Saints, and their regular at 3B (Alvarez) ain't hitting and is the definition of minor league filler (sorry, mah dude). Eeles having knee surgery and not being back is just one more log on the fire.

Sometimes you just get bad luck when all your injuries end up in 1-2 spots. Right now we're probably looking at Gasper as the emergency 3B? Maybe Jeffers? oof.

I'm less worried about the OF if Wallner is out for a while (though his bat will be missed indeed). Bader gives us defense, and it would be an opportunity for Kiersey to show he belongs. And if they wanted to give McCusker a shot as an OF/DH, there's room on the 40-man for that if Emma or Keaschall isn't deemed ready.

The depth was fine to start the season on the left side, and then we had injuries to Royce, now Miranda, with other SS options in AAA being out and a possible injury to Correa. Might have to gut check through for a week or 2 with Lee & Castro and hope no one tries to spike those guys.

The Twins have a real medical staff, trainer, coaching, manager problem at this point. Guys just drop like flies left and right year in and year out.

I'm not sure any team has more pitchers go down (IL) than the Dodgers (I will let you look that up), but injuries happen to all teams. Detroit currently has 4 pitchers on the IL, their starting catcher on the IL, 4 OF on IL including 2 starters. I think we can agree that injuries happen more to some players than others but all teams can hear their fans suggest that their team is missing too many key players.

McCusker is probably as good as any waiver wire option. They might as well give him a chance.

You gents are far more educated in the rules of the game, so, IF the Twins end up with a LOT of men on the 40 man on the IL, can they start bringing up non-40 man,  AAA player because they have no other choice.

Of course I believe J. Gallo is still out there.

The Twins are able to move around guys as needed, but what is going on with Will Holland? He would have been the 3rd depth guy for SS behind Castro and Lee. He played a bit early in ST, but then had some sort of injury. He's on the 7 day IL.

Before last night, the Twins were one of the healthiest teams in the league. Changed in a hurry.

They would need to move players to the 60 Day IL or remove them from the 40-man roster to open up roster spots. Matt Canterino could easily be released, for example. Diego Cartaya would probably pass through waivers after his cold start to the season. Tonkin could head to the 60 day IL.

Thank you.

We shall find out by Friday if Wallner needs to be replaced. Currently the best option available is a near Wallner clone, Carson McCusker. McCusker has been steadily improving with his swing decisions and nobody hits the ball harder. He has a pretty quick bat considering his size. He is not a great defender but he is basically Wallner. He does seem like he is getting better reads on fly balls.

Both Emmanuel Rodriguez and Luke Keaschall look a little off balance and out of time right now. I turned off the game at 0-6 because the Saints were playing poorly in the field; no errors recorded but half a dozen misplays/mistakes.

Sounds like C4 is going to escape the IL stint for now but why wait on promoting LK to the 26/40 man roster. We win more games with him at DH everyday and being on base twice every game. The kid is a MLB’r and he can sub into the game as a late inning fielder until his arm is better…. Which wont be long.

Joey Gallo is now a minor league pitcher. Seriously.

Isn’t Canterino on the minor league 60 day IL equivalent just like Headrick was last year? I think he can be replaced without going off the 40 man.

Looks like we traded for 1B Jonah Bride today. Our season is officially saved!!!

The speculation is that Bride can help at third base immediately while the Twins have very few options there at this point.

Not too sure Keaschall is ready. He's hitting .261 with a .727 OPS. I don't think those numbers are even above average in the International League.

There isn't such a thing. He has to go on the MLB 60 day or get released. I have serious doubts any other team in MLB wants to carry him on their 40-man roster but they might out-bid the Twins to give him a minor league contract.

True. I read up on that, he would have to be placed on the mlb 60 day il or dfa’d. Not sure why he isn’t on the 60 day IL already since he had surgery and will be out all season.

They have to pay him an MLB salary to sit on the 60 day IL and he gains service time to put him one year closer to free agency. The service time isn't really an issue but the paycheck is. I don't know why they haven't released him. He's never been able to put together a healthy season of pitching. By sending him to the minors they burned his last option so next spring he'll have no MLB experience, a track record of terrible health and no minor league options. It's a total waste of a 40-man roster spot.
