Desperate teams do desperate things.

It's one desperate move after another for this team.

One cheap desperate move after the other.

I'm going to take a wait and see attitude for now. Out performed Richards in NY so maybe a small step up or he could flop.

Hard to stay interested in this team, these days. Strangers and dumpster dives to watch. Sad end and sad start to the 2024 season. The team sure was fun in the weeks before the all star break, though. Just a couple weeks ago, the best record in MLB was 21 games over .500, and the Twins were at 17. Thiings sure get dark quick, when you lose so many games you had in the bag.

This is perfect, regarding Tonkin, if you like comedy.

"None of his four offerings misses bats the way you want a relief pitcher's out pitch to do so, and both versions of his fastball are a little underheated, sitting 91-94 and touching only a tick higher............ This is the kind of pickup the team has been craving......"

I am afraid the other teams had a better medical exam for Correa than us, but we do like to get injury prone pitchers so I guess it fits with position players too.

Wow - three thumbs down - what is the record?

I held off on the thumb - but it seems somebody needs to say that CC’s plantar fasciitis has nothing to do with his repaired ankle. Last year it was plantar fasciitis in his other foot. Not sure why people keep comparing him not getting signed 18 months ago due to a specific history…… it MUST have something to do with the last 6 weeks of missed time? It’s just erroneous statements. Then rolling it in with pitchers that have been hurt (like every other staff in baseball) is just living to be negative.

Dumpster diving agains but probably a better option than Richards, who was a head scratching move when it happened and even more puzzling as we have seen him pitch. Makes me feel sorry for the catchers, trying to work with this guy. Writing on the wall for other relievers like Winder.

Tonkin was decent with NY, hopefully we don't break him. Hilarious that our lone deadline acquisition lasted a month before being DFA'D. I really hope the Twins address the pitching staff in the off-season, but for real this time. They tried to bargain bin, minor league signing thing to fill out bullpen this year and look how that worked out.  Reliever arms can usually be had for fairly cheap. If ownership cuts payroll again, some trades are going to be necessary. Pitching wins championships, and this year it's clear we don't have it. I doubt we'll see Correa or Buxton again this year which is another problem. For a team with payroll limitations, we can't be OK with our two top paid "superstars" only playing half a season every year.

What do you suggest they do about their "superstars" being injured.  How would you rectify that situation?

Man, this is starting to look like that Brazilian plane crash, albeit in a slightly slower fashion. All this effort to get back on TV, just in the nick of time for fans to turn it off in disgust.

Yup, relief arms can come cheap. Any of them who signed for less than $10 million was hit and miss.

Well having all those players missing time is negative.  I am not a pollyanna - bad is bad and good is great.
