Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 A lot of weak contact against the weakest Yankee starter

Across the season so far, "how's that worked" amounts to 18-14 in games started by Vazquez*, and Jeffers weighs in at 15-14. That's no form of analysis at all, of course, but larger-scale than this one Yankees series. The results are in line, anyway, with the notion that Vazquez is doing something that makes up for the empty bat as yet. As you probably know, I'm no Vazquez apologist. The post you replied to was merely wordplay. * his one other start was at DH, which was a loss - go figure

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Without having the deep data in front of me, or the benefit of the 1000s of Twins Daily articles, I am going to guess that Lopez’s problem (‘problem’) this year has actually been being too much in the strike zone. His walk:inning ratio has always been very good, one walk per every three or four innings, but this year it is up to 1 walk per 6 innings. my Rx for Pablo: issue a few more free passes, even in touchy spots. Let a pitch slip out of your hand a little more often (oops, didn’t mean to throw that one in so close…) … but not on 0-2, kthanx bye
