Which Twin Will Be The Odd Man Out After Hicks' Injury?

Personally, I'd throw Arcia in center for 2 weeks in a lost season just to make sure PT gets worked out, but since Gardy won't do it, it will likely be Parmelee.... It shouldn't be, but that's how it will be.

If parmelee doesn't improve In a hurry Arcia would be an easy replacement for him out in RF and sense Parmelee is a better bat then both Thomas and Ramiz then both of those guys would be sent to the minors and Parmalee would be a bench bat. Having Doumit DH, Arcia in right and Hicks in center.

I still think they can find plenty of at bats for Arcia.

In a six game week, Doumit, Willingham and Morneau can each get a day and Parmelee two (with an occasional Mauer day off). That's 5 starts for Arcia.

There is no reason the bench bat needs to be the same guy.

Parmelee is a young player that may play a role in the next wave. Thomas, Ramirez, and Doumit will not.

He needs to play 150 + games this year as a starter, not this 3 weeks on 3 weeks off crap he's getting when the flavor d'jour gets called up.

I like Arcia and think he's going to be a stud, but if his callup takes time away from Parmelee, it was a mistake.

Assuming we lose a bullpen arm when Plouffe comes back...

I hate to type this but Carroll should be the guy who comes off the 25 man when Hicks returns.

Not so far-fetched. Of course you need to believe that Escobar is the new Carroll, otherwise you might as well drop Escobar and keep Jaime while you look for his replacement. I think we could get a C+ prospect for Carroll?

Not while he's batting .200. If he was batting .270, it'd be another story.

Couldnt agree more. They aint making the playoffs. Get the kids in the lineup even if they're playing out of position.

Plouffe should be ready very soon. He played most of the game at third in Rochester (homered) and was tweeting after the game. When he returns, who gets sent down and who bats leadoff? I can't imagine Plouffe riding the bench when he returns. I do want to add that I will absolutely believe he is back when he is on the field and the game has begun.

If doumit could stay hot for another month.....but I don't see the Twins dealing him.

The OF should be Arcia, Hicks, Parmalee when Hicks is back, imo. This season should be about finding out what Plouffe and Parmalee are, and getting Hicks/Arcia/Gibson's feet wet at this point.

I hate to screw with the kid, but bounce Arcia to AAA for a few weeks and then shop Carroll/Doumit/Morneau/Willingham/Correia/the ballboy through July and see what happens.

This outfield problem isn't going to go away unless veterans are moved off the roster.

Time to say goodbye to Carroll. If anyone will take him and his salary.

Indeed. Add Morneau and Willingham to the equation, and there is plenty of playing time for both Parmelee and Arcia. And if Herrmann continues to hit, trade Doumit as well.

I agree completely. There are some decent lefty/righty situations here at times to spare Willingham, and there is also a need, I would think, to keep players sharp and that means both playing most of the time and getting a day off here and there.

Even if Herrmann is not hitting (I would predict he'll come to earth in Escobar-like fashion), the Twins should trade Doumit. Josmiel Pinto is below Arcia/Buxton/Sano, but his numbers at AA are pretty close to off the charts. I have said since April that the Twins need to trade two of Doumit, Morneau, and Willingham and selling a pitcher and Carroll wouldn't be a bad idea.
