Official scorers are loath to let the first hit off a good pitcher be questionable like Kepler's was.

Had Correa's hit preceded Kepler's attempt, I think Max would have been awarded a double.

Well then they should all be fired.

As a reliever, I did a lot of scoring (games) in college. That would have gotten an error from me.

Is it even a paid job?

Yes.  No one gets rich doing it, but it's not like the old days where a beat reporter would pick up a few bucks for the effort.

So since games is in parentheses….. does that mean that you didn’t do much other scoring in college?🤷‍♂️

Absolutely.

I feel like it's one of those jobs like organist where the giant corporation "lets" people do it almost on a volunteer or severely underpaid position. Maybe I'm mixing it up.

That would be weird, as they're almost the official archivists.

Looks like it was $35 an hour a couple years ago. I wonder if they got a raise after the pitch clock was implemented 😂

I forget exactly but it's a few hundred a game.

I’d have let the league in strikeouts…

and doubles

I rarely got to first base in my college years.
