Correa is back

The Twins have reinstated Carlos Correa and sent down Austin Martin to AAA. Per MLB.com

Miranda has played well, better than Santana. But Santana isn't going anywhere so Miranda is less important than Martin & should have been sent down instead.

But great to have Correa back, he's very much needed.

I guess it depends somewhat on if you believe in riding the hot player.   Miranda has a 192 wRC+ over the two series where martin has struggled with a wRC+ of 48.  If they keep Miranda, Castro plays the outfield and he has also been very hot.  They are not cutting Margot for a rookie that is struggling at the moment so keeping Martin over Miranda makes little sense.

They sent Martin down? Unwise! Martin has been a sparkplug for this offense. Better to send down a pitcher.

He would be going down anyway, then, when Duran or Topa is ready, which is soon. Even so, I wished he could stay.

Martin started strong and was fading a bit. He looks good to me, but this is a perfect time to let him catch his breath and work on stuff. He will be back, I like his future.

Yeah, we would have lost last night. Or maybe we would have won by more.

That said, Santana is on the roster as backup/insurance for Kirilloff and has nothing to do with Martin being in Mpls or St. Paul. That would be Margot.

That said, glad Correa is back. We are a much stronger team with him playing SS.

And Willi Castro has been given his freedom! For two weeks, Willi has played almost exclusively at shortstop, now he can play third, second, left and center. That Castro has swung the bat well right handed makes it much easier to move Martin, who got platoon at-bats in left plus serving as Buxton's backup. Castro can fill both of those roles and get some third base time.

Yep ... that digs into it deeper rather than just 'reacting' based on perception

There's just something about Correa. He steps on the field and the Twins are instantly a better team - even if he's not hitting the ball well. His defense, leadership and intangibles are among the best in baseball. Derek Jeter-esque.

I waved at him last night ... he waved back ... might have been someone else, but, weren't many people around, so, he waved back :)
