So we’re moving Varland to the pen and the only legit backup plans are Dobnak and Festa (who is being limited to like 65 pitches a game)?

not going to happen without them acquiring a starter

I don't necessarily disagree with that thought.  However, I just think that SWR would be the next man up at this point.

Most MLB pitchers have good stuff. They wouldn't be in the majors otherwise. But if you don't have good command, you will get rocked. That's Varland right now. He can skate by for an inning or two. Beyond that, teams will get a read and light him up.

If he’s moving to the bullpen, he’d better get the location figured out

I don't remember his location being great out of the pen last year, he was just throwing it past people.  He'll have to fix it either way but if he does he's a high level starter,

This. In an inning or two, he can rev up and blow it by people.

Yet another game this season with no pitching and not nearly enough pitching.  UGGH!

Correction -- Not nearly enough hitting.

Not to mention…the pitching 😜

Not paying attention to the provided suggestions.  Oops!

But that will only last so long, even in short stints the book will be out and it won't work anymore.  Commanding 95-96 is far better than wild 99.

Starter or pen, hitters won’t be fooled. Maybe last year when he was a rook.

I wonder how much of the “book is out on him” stuff still applies with all the analytics even at the minor league level? I still think it takes the league a few times to see a guy in person though

If he fixes it he can be a starter. Lots of guys are able to only minimalize it though and be decent relievers. Duran is clearly on a different level but his location isn't exactly spot on. Trevor May was able to minimize it in the pen. Guys like Josh Hader, Alexis Diaz and Devin Williams aren't exactly in firm control of their stuff.

I think Byron has too much Sheboygan on his mind when he’s up with guys on base

And guys not on base.

Just struggling a bit in those two situations.

I was surprised to find out that the official hot dog of the twins is NOT Sheboygan. Do they not have hot dogs?

Probably more about maximizing the number of companies from which you can collect sponsorship money.

If we gave them the hot dog gig as well, chances are we can’t afford guys like Santana.

Maybe Buxton 8th. Santana is pushing Tommy Herr for worst Twin of all time.

Logan Morrison hit .186 in 95 games in 2018 #neverforget

Yeah, terrible. And Santana currently trailing him by .276 points in OPS.

But potato patato, I think the lesson here is to never sign this type of one year bounce-back player. Like never, ever, ever again, even once.

This is starting to make a fantastic monument. I think Target Field needs a new Mt. Rushmore style statue for this. Maybe put it in the men's room.
