LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 It sounds like Duran is throwing bullpen sessions and will be back relatively soon. My guess is that Bowman pitches today. If he looks good, he stays until either Duran is ready to come back or Alcala's 10 (15?) days are up in AAA. Bowman's 945K MLB salary just locked in so I think the Twins will ride him a bit to se what he can do. Sands going 2 1/3 yesterday did help save the bullpen a little so they may not need a fresh arm if we can get 6 or 6+ from Ober today. Theilbar came up for Alcala today to give us one fresh arm for Baltimore and Duran comes back for whoever isn't pitching well or needs an IL stint in 7-10 days. Also sounds like Topa is only a week or two away so keeping Bowman around makes sense as an easy DFA when he or Duran is ready. Chances are that someone else will need an IL stint by the time that happens. Famous last words, but it is looking like the Twins' claim that they had a quality bullpen with real depth is actually turning out to be true so far. The bullpen stats are top of the league and that's without 2 of their best 3 arms from last year with Duran and Theilbar out all season so far. Richie the Rally Goat 1

I think the bullpens are just ramping up towards full velocity and will be done carefully with plenty of off days in between.

Shaitan Verified Member Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 I haven't seen him pitch, but based on usage, I wonder about Jackson. Or Johnson. Whatever JJ's name is. We sure have a lot of panic at this site considering I haven't even learned their names yet. 😁
Rosterman Verified Member Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 I'm surprised they didn't start Thielbar in Florida camp in a few game environs before starting his rehab in St. paul. Not that he was absolutely horrible, but I elt he should've had another couple of rounds. Not at all sure the reasoning behind Bowman. Just add Thiebar. Save the roster spot and Bowman's options, unless he has a May walk date we don't know about. Duran, Topa and Staumont are all due back. Who stays and who goes in the end. Staumont and Fundeburk both have options, so that might be the reality there.

Thielbar was not good last year and Alcala getting the boot was odd should have known it was you. You’ve made a habit out of singling out my posts to dislike since I arrived.
