But my guess is that David St Peter will be in charge of these decisions and he will elect for "yesterday's model" since it will be his safe legacy (groans). That kind of model fits him to a T.

You may be right. I haven't noticed blow your mind marketing coming from that side of the front office over the years. On the other hand. They just moved on from an established in the living room 40 year vet in Dick Bremer and I don't have the feeling he was insubordinate or stealing copy paper. So? Maybe they see it? Maybe? We will find out.
RIP BYTO Verified Member Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Whoever it is, they need to remember that we are tuning in to watch the game and the play-by-play is there to enhance the game experience and not the other way around. I've watched plenty of other games and the booth guys seem to think that we tune in to strictly listen to them babble on and on and on, Nine of twelve and Linus 1 1

Gladden in shotgun with Atteberry with the reigns. Oh, goodness... I’m with you. Radio play by play is more difficult. I hope Provus understands that radio is his strength and he stays there. If Provus was moved to TV and Gladden was the primary play by play guy, it would be unlistenable. I can barely tolerate Gladden in the middle innings, as he struggles to describe the action as it happens, like a “pop fly to the outfield that ends up being a home run.” Gladden’s only strength is his stories and experience as a player. But he cannot be the voice of the Twins. Atteberry tries too hard to provide background material, which seems forced to me and doesn’t seem natural. Not a big fan. Maybe Ryan LeFevre from the Royals broadcast, a former Gopher baseball player, would be interested in a return to the Twin Cities.

In additional to Marney, Jessica Mendoza, and Jesse Garcia (Milwaukee, news director at smallest TV network; former sportscaster). Don't put 3 in a booth. Never works for me. Consider Chris Archer in some capacity. Ploufe is good for stories but processes too much info audibly rather than forming thoughts and then speaking. Three in the booth would cost too much anyway when only two will do. And they’re not sure of their TV broadcast situation and dollars, so that might have to be resolved before anyone is hired for TV.
Whitey333 Verified Member Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Good luck Dick Bremer and thanks for years of memories involving Twins Baseball. I'm not sure about some of the anti Gladden banter. I think he and Provus do a great job on the radio side. I too am an older gentleman that loved listening to previous announcers like Herb Carneal and Gordon. Cory Provus is great on radio. He not only is very knowledgeable. HE knows the game and seems to connect with listeners. He has a great voice and isn't afraid to be critical at times. He does seem to be a natural replacement for Dick Bremer. I would kid hate to lose him on radio side and then possibly have to have more of Atterberry. He is one of the most difficult baseball broadcasters to listen to. He seems to forget many times during a Twins broadcast that there is a game going on. He's a well researched person that shares a lot of information. Some of it is even important. Some of it is even relevant to the Twins game. I dread the days when he's the main broadcaster when Provus is on vacation or he's busy doing college football or basketball games. Please, we need less, much less of atterberry, not more. Dave Borton 1

Our opinions about the voices who share the stories of the Twins with us are quite subjective, aren't they? Nine of twelve, Dave Borton and Riverbrian 2 1

I'll let others discuss the subjective preferences between Corey Provus, Dick Bremer and others. To me it's like debating a blue chair or red chair in the same living room. I am suggesting that they may want to use this opportunity to redesign the living room instead.

Or even the point of expanding the booth to three -- though I do question if they have the budget for that. I just wouldn't want anything remotely resembling KFAN's morning show. Or really anything related to KFAN, to be honest. Nine of twelve and Riverbrian 2
