Lopez has had 7 fine starts and now 4 bad ones.  Nothing much in between. Unfortunately, his 3 best starts were to begin the season. Since then, his ERA is up around 6.  Something's the matter, whether physically or with the approach or with the command.  Sounds like you are seeing the latter.

The results so far aren't stellar, to say the least, but managing isn't through a rear-view mirror.  The question of a starter always is, is bringing in someone from the bullpen going to lead to better results than letting him stay and soak up the next inning.

Did the poor ones start after the contract extension? I can't remember when that extension happened

I truly don't like to cast aspersions about character and whatnot.  But the literal answer to your question is Yes.  MLBTR has the press release on April 21. He pitched a stinker on April 22, after 3 consecutive Quality Starts (and an Opening Day start that was just shy of that).

Yeah I was just curious what the time frame was. I hope it was more coincidental and a result of maybe some weariness from the WBC than anything about character
