I got to spend some time with him before he did a clinic at Charlottesville High School in 1996 and asked him because he looked way smaller than I rememebered him or thought he was, and he said he was 5'10' and about 185 lbs! He looked great! I have seen him listed in some pages as 6'0" and 5'11", and 195 and 213 lbs. He said they always wanted me to be bigger, and he had shrunk at least an inch, though, and smiled and laughed. He was very generous and fun to be with. Impressive. No argument here. But he was thick. Tree trunk legs. Forearms the size of hams.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 I do want to give credit to the bullpen tonight. For two very different reasons, possible disaster was averted in the 6th and 7th innings. In the 6th, Varland left with a 4-2 lead, two on and none out. Previously unreliable Jovani Moran set down three straight hitters and kept the lead at two. In the 7th, Jorge Lopez clearly had the lead off batter struck out, but the home plate ump blew the call, it seemed to throw Lopez off as he yielded a double and then fell behind the next hitter, but he struck out the next three batters including Trout and Ohtani. End of threat. Stewart and Duran closed it out mostly routinely, game over.
