We had 1 huge inning, and a 2 run homer, other than that we did not do anything. Of course you do not negate the 9 run first, as you may play things out different if we did not put up 9, but it is not like we were putting up runs each inning. Hopefully, we can score more consistent tonight. I'm going to worry about that later. For now... DocBauer and SwainZag 1 1

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Ian Hamilton looked pretty good. I assume he never looked that good when he was with us.

I choose to believe that runs are scored when runs are scored. 😀

Even if 99% of the paying fans have departed, the ones who remain deserve a show. Maybe a memorable sequence will occur in the bottom of the ninth, even in a losing effort. The fans who want to concede, have left. I'd feel different for low-cost or free contests. Yeah, okay ... was quickly posting irritation and this sets it back. However, I still don't like the position players pitching thing. I mean, the lead wasn't in double digits at that time, not sure if the rules stipulate anything, but I'd set it at 15 runs, you can pitch who want ... baseball's version of a 15-run rule. ashbury 1

I was unaware of the new rules, but I looked it up and it's this: Under the new guidelines, leading teams have to be up by 10 or more runs in the ninth inning in order to let a position player pitch while trailing teams can use a position player anytime it's down by eight or more runs. Position players are also allowed to pitch anytime in extra innings.
