Good bye

Today we officially did not pick up the options on Bundy, Archer, Sano.  Is anyone surprised or sad?  What does it say about the team that it was even an option to take their options?  Sano is the most understandable.  We extended him with hope.  We thought he would grow towards the promise that he always possessed, but it did not happen.  Archer and Bundy are the latest reclamations that we could not reclaim.  Maybe it is time to stop hoping and sign the players we really want and need.

So who is next?

A change of scenery will be good for him. I think he will keep doing what he does which is get hot for a little bit but then cool down. Always has been an extremely streaky hitter. Loved him when he was going good though.

If sano gets a major league contract I will be surprised  ...

He is only worthy of a minor league contract until he proves himself to be big papi #2 ...

Bundy was a work horse , archer was okay  for 2/3rds of the season ...

Nice to see that the front office has faith in our remaining pitchers and declines the options on bundy and archer ...

Round up the usual suspects and decline options  or non tender some ...

I wonder how sano will do in coors field ...

Sano's biggest problem isn't that he isn't able to hit it out of the park. He so strong he can hit it out of any park if he can get a hold of it. His problem is SOs, Coors can't help

Couldn't wait for Sano to hit the bricks. It was way past time for that to happen. There's no doubt Bundy and Archer had to go. There absolutely HAS to be a couple better bodies out there to fill out the staff. I wish them all the best of luck, but don't let the door hit you on the way out of town.

I am absolutely fine with every single one of these moves. I have been begging the Twins to move on from Sano for a while. The only reason he was kept around is because when he get hot, he gets HOT. But the flip-side of the coin is true as well. When he's cold, he's really COLD (which I guess fits MN weather as a whole).

But we all knew that Bundy and Archer were going to be FA come the end of the WS. Now a reunion may be in the works, but in limited fashion or Relief roles for both of them. I don't think either of them belong in the starting rotation, but if they need to give us some work out of the BP we may be able to use them.

But now we officially 4 more players off our 40 man roster. Need to get down to a respectable 35ish players to be able to make some moves this offseason.

Sano is a bummer just because he once held soooo much hype/hope. But, so it goes. Wish him health and happiness.

Btw, recommend this documentary, which features Sano...

BALLPLAYER: PELOTERO

This compelling documentary narrated by John Leguizamo is a gritty and never before seen look inside the world of professional baseball training camps in the Dominican Republic. Miguel Angel and Jean Carlos are two of the top prospects at a training camp, and they are both about to turn 16, which means they can be signed to a farm team and ultimately move up to the big leagues. Filmmakers Ross Finkel, Trevor Martin and Jonathan Paley take you inside this never before seen world for an up close and personal look at the cost of the American dream.

I remember well, over a decade ago when Buxton, Hicks and Sano were going to be the future of the Twins, on TV talking heads.

What has changed, back when Twins were World Series winners, many rookies first year they Twenty or Twenty One and full time , including in production by by Twenty Two and Twenty Three.

Why can't Coors help?  The thinner air is said to make breaking pitches have less bite.  He may be able to womp on hangers.

Was my thoughts, though i wasn't listening to whoever said it. I was just working it out from first principles...

Anyway, best o' luck to Sano!

He could make some team very happy.

Or some team horribly sad. Like several have mentioned, Sano has always been a streak hitter. Not a player to count on. An occasional moonshot doesn't put a team in the playoffs.
