  1. MLB teams, even the mediocre ones with mid-to-lower tier payrolls, still make bank (Pirates are one of the most profitable: https://www.si.com/mlb/pirates/news/pittsburgh-pirates-rank-one-mlb-most-profitable-teams). Don't believe any ownership "math" that tries to convince you otherwise. Plus the team's valuation is literally more than $1B+ what Pohlad family paid for it -- a valuation propped up in no small part by Minnesota taxpayers. The Pohlads are losing / lost money on *other* business ventures and over-leveraged borrowing against the team, which MLB shouldn't even allow. I won't tell other fans how to spend their time or money, but the Pohalds don't *deserve* any respect or financial support. SELL. THE. TEAM.
  2. Appreciate the sentiment and Buxton, but this doesn’t touch the wasted talent of a once-in-a-franchise homegrown talent like Joe Mauer. To have never seriously pushed payroll around Mauer’s tenure to go all-in for a WS title and ring… uff da!
  3. If only we could go the Green Bay Packers ownership route! Sports Teams Should Be Owned by the Public https://jacobin.com/2019/12/nfl-cowboys-jerry-jones-football-owners-public-ownership Public ownership works for some of world’s best sports teams -- is there a future for the idea in America? https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/public-ownership-works-for-some-of-worlds-best-sports-teams-is-there-a-future-for-the-idea-in-america/
  4. No doubt. I've annually purchased the Offseason Handbook with a Caretaker contribution, but it had become so predictable and tiring to read as ownership would support little-to-no spending. Maybe this year's edition should include a section on potential new owners!
  5. Great market (don't buy the small-market b.s.). Great ballpark. Great fanbase. Cheap owners. Only one thing needs to change there. We can't say for sure, but it's unlikely anyone will buy this club looking to move or slash-and-burn. Twins would have been gone long ago if Carl had gotten his way. Pohlads will make a fortune on this sale, and the fanbase and taxpayers of Minnesota played no small part without ever getting back the financial reinvestment by ownership that was deserved. Not without anxiety but mostly excited for what's to come. Win Twins!
  6. Came here to post/ask about this when I noticed my avatar and cover images were suddenly gone. Thanks for the heads up.
  7. Not much trust here. So far, only one word describes this off-season on basically all fronts for the Twins: disappointment. What a letdown coming off of the high of some long-awaited postseason success. There may be short-term revenue challenges, but ownership/management is being terribly shortsighted. Ownership has received tremendous public financial support over the years. The franchise value continues to climb. Twins fans deserve better.
  8. Hard pass. His career should be over.
  9. Overall, pretty uninspired and middle of the road. The cream home alternates are the sharpest. Always love pinstripes too, though they should not have striping on the pants. It’s superfluous and ruins the clean lines/look. Also would prefer primary blue with red accent on the home whites. Good: The god-awful gold is gone! Bad: New generic M logo and the “North Star” should be more of a star shape if they’re gonna go that route, which isn’t really a great idea IMHO. Inexcusable: No Minnie & Paul!
  10. Will there be a single-file version of the complete Offseason Handbook? Thanks!
  11. Prefer the current design with the T "hugging" the C. To my eye that actually looks cleaner and more classic. It's also more specific to the team. The potentially updated logo looks more generic. Have also never liked the use of gold in recent years and wish it'd go away.
