Augmented Reality at Target Field

No, "Augmented Reality" isn't a hot international pitching prospect, unfortunately. :)

It's apparently a way to play games with your phone's camera, and fans at Target Field will be the first live sports fans to use it.

Forbes: Minnesota Twins Launch First Shared AR For Live Sports App That Opens Door To Sponsorship Land Grab

Could extend beyond just games:

Both Iles and Beatty mentioned that it’s possible to create an experience in which player stats could hover over a player in real-time or other ways to engage the dedicated baseball fan in attendance.

It’s a strange new world!

my work has rolled out AR training with Microsoft HoloLens. It’s pretty nifty to see the trainer indicate in your field of vision, the lever to pull on your machine in real time, without being in the room.

Can it be used to look like the Twins drove in a runner in scoring position?

I gave the laugh reaction even though inside it made me feel the sad reaction. Amazing how many emotions that 1 sentence created.

The level of clickbait in the title of the Forbes article made me sad right off the bat. As I dug deeply into the article in an attempt to remove all the knots to get to the details:
Apps are probably
Batter-Up! (couldn't find "Batter Up")
Blockbuster! (assuming it's not the "Blockbuster" movie app...)
Frenzy Fishing! (couldn't find "Fishing Frenzy")

At least... I think those are the apps. I'm sure the developers and parent companies are super excited the level of accuracy in the Forbes article rivals Yahoo.com news.

In any case, I think anything which adds potential interest to the game for younger people could be valuable; however, encouraging people to not watch the game and have their head down in the phone when baseballs flying 100mph around the stadium is dangerous.

Why pay to see a game if you are going to be glued to an electronic!

Nail hit square on the head. I'm paying to watch a baseball game, not play games on my phone. I can't wait until a moron gets hit in the face not paying attention and sues the team.
