USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 No. Nico Goodrum does absolutely NOTHING if the goal is to win more games than you lose. Sheesh. Rigby and TwinsDr2021 2
Heiny Verified Member Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Twins roster for 2022. 1b - Kirilloff 2b - Gordon 3b- Miranda ss - Goodrum lf - Araez cf - Celstino rf - Larnach c - Jeffers backups, Cave, Rooker, Lewis, Rortvedt. SP - Ober, Ryan, Enlow, Balazovic, Winder. BP - doesn't really matter. Just throw some warm arms in there. That should save some money. And we can trade anybody that's left to rebuild our minor leagues.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Even his "breakout" year his OPS+ was only 100 and it's been all downhill since then. He seems like another Ehire Adrianza at best. I suppose there's typically a 2nd utility infielder on the 26-man roster, so if it's between him and bringing back JT Riddle, ugh, fine, but it should be on a MiLB deal and it's not a position I'd rush out to fill.
mnfireman Verified Member Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 2020 - 2021 slash lines: Player A: .203/.282/.350 .632 75 OPS+ 1 GG finalist nomination Player B: .240/.297/.292 .590 65 OPS+ 1 GG finalist nomination One player is being gushed over and one player is being called everything negative under the sun by TD posters. WOW! I would not be in on either player as neither player really suggests going for it in 2022.
Thegrin Verified Member Posted November 22, 2021 Posted November 22, 2021 Too Old. No better hitter than Simmons. Not a better fielder than Simmons. Too expensive. I'd rather use Gordon or Palacios.

I don’t think it is a lock that he’ll rebound to major league average. Don't recall saying anything about Simmons rebounding to any major league average. Just don't think Goodrum is going to give you anything that's going to elevate the play of the team.

bean5302 Verified Member Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I don't have anything personal against Niko Goodrum, but I'd rather play Palacios. I find it hard to believe Palacios hasn't warranted at least being looked at as a utility infielder. Goodrum is a known quantity, he's a 30 year old (by the start of 2022) utility infielder who can't hit. He's not exactly a black hole on a roster, but he doesn't add anything, either. Over his last 504 plate appearances and 2 years, he's generated 0.3 fWAR and 0.1 bWAR with a .632 OPS.
D12294 Provisional Member Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I am positive about giving Goodrum a chance. It is a bit of a risk, but maybe not an expensive risk and he has played 7 positions. Tigers were looking to sign one of the top SS FAs this offseason.
Shs_2 Verified Member Posted November 26, 2021 Posted November 26, 2021 I think an angle here, is this , Nikko Goodrum is a BIG friend of Byron Buxtons' So why not swap out Niko for Cavemen ...and hope that helps a long term deal ever so slightly with the man, myth , legend Bye Ron Buxton.
