We're 2 lonely voices in the Twins hinterland.

 

Not a fan of Astudillo, either. Not not a fan as well. He is not a savior. I don't find him cute. We need MLB players, and to not trade them away. FO already sent Escobar and Pressly away for virtual peanuts. the FO are new hires. Never had Twins in their blood. They are bought and sold, and would take a different job for a higher bid in a heartbeat. I hope they really do make the needed additions. That's what they are paid to do. Win Championships.

Maybe there are moves in the works, nobody knows. But still, a lead trimmed by 8.5 games in less than two months and lost opportunities to add to it by standing pat..not good. Damage may a,ready be done

What team is going to sell in June?  Not very often you see big trades that early in the season.  If you wanna give up all your top prospects then sure you can get something done but overpaying like that wouldn't make sense either.

 

Where did I say give up ALL your top prospects. It's not a secret that the Twins have excesses of future major leaguers who will never play for the Twins at the major league level.

 

There were/are around 6 teams on track for near 100 losses. Those teams will gladly make a deal for payroll relief and/or the right prospect. You just have to make the call and sell the deal.

For example:

Take on a bad salary on the other team as a sweetener to get the pitcher that you really covet.

To say this FO should've made a move by now isn't necessarily fair.  Too many variables with other teams happening and too many unknowns.  Twins aren't the only team looking for pitching and no other team has made a move yet either.  Wait for the first domino to fall then see what happens.  I hope the Twins push the first domino.

You could have Ian Kennedy for an A ball lotto ticket if you picked up 40 percent of his salary. He's not the best reliever on the market, but he'd be the Twins second most reliable pen arm.

 

All it would take is the offer.

Another note: Twins have gone 0-4 with bases loaded this series and currently have the worst stats in the league with bases loaded. This isn't a fluke. There is something wrong with their approach. Whether it be nerves or just a lack of confidence. This needs to be addressed.

very good points...nobody has made a move..i did hear stroman would fetch two C players, same wid MadBum..Bauer would demand a B and two C's etc..but its all arbitrary until real biz happens...B level is a all star level, C is a replacement level starter and A is obvi nothing u will see at a dead line so.... but yea, its weird only a week to go and nothing

This FO also addressed the lineup by taking a chance on a 38 year old DH, a released 1B, and a 2B coming off a bad year.  Those moves worked out and others haven't.  They do need to make more moves to get better but the wheels aren't falling off either.  This team is still in a very good position.  This is not the time to panic, now if they start losing to Chicago and Miami, that's a different story.  Moves will be made soon enough.

You're walking right past my point.

 

If "We" all knew since the offseason that the Twins needed another 1 or 2 RP "gets", the FO did, as well.

 

In the past, the Twins never were willing to gamble on trading away prospects,

never recognizing when prospects had peaked and were at prime trade bait value,

given up after 6 years in the minors on players that became prospects.

 

As we have seen recently, the Twins are now in the position of having too many prospects who will likely become Rule 5s or granted free agency.

 

Take on a little more payroll while the window is open, establish the market, instead of reacting to it and settling for the leftovers, or the never-weres.

Why were Morin and Magill DFA'd? Neither do much for me, but they're CERTAINLY better than trusting leads to Kohl Stewart, Cody Stashak, Zack Littell, and Blake Parker. I've been told they were DFA'd to "make room on the 40 man." Room for what?

 

Why should I care what other teams haven't done? It's not Falvine's job to run other teams, it's their job to run the Twins. "The market isn't really established?"  C'mon. That's weaksauce, IMO. Corporate doublespeak. SET the market for once. Let others try to catch up.

You should care what other teams have done or haven't done... because in the long run, it will help stay reasonable about your expectations. 

 

Do you honestly believe the Twins are sitting there going... OK... we got a deal in place... but let's wait until July 31st. Is it possible that nobody has a deal in place and that's why no deal has been announced. 

 

Is it possible that the Twins offered an over pay to the Blue Jays while the Blue Jays are talking to other clubs to see if someone will over pay more.

 

Is it possible that the Twins listened to the Blue Jays over ask and then called the D-Backs to see if they were not over-asking. Is it possible that this type of thing is slowing things down a little... this year and like every year. 

 

I suppose the Twins could walk into that auction room and plunk down 100 bucks for a bottle of wine when the top bid was going twice at 15 bucks... but, I'd want the front office gone at that point.
