Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Odd to see Indy ball 35 year old. Is this to replace Schoop? I assumed it would be a pitcher.
Rigby Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Outfield depth at Rochester with Rooker, Raley and Wade on DL.

Cornholio Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 I believe by selecting his contract, he will be replacing someone on the 25 man roster. Presumably Schoop.

The MLB club didn't select him from one of their affiliates. The org purchased his contract from an indy league team. The terminology is admittedly confusing!
Cornholio Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Whew! Adding to my confusion was the New Britain tag line. Took awhile to make the connection

Thegrin Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 glad to see that New Britain still has a team. de Aza was a passable player for awhile. Must be plugging a leak somewhere in the minor leagues, when they bring someone up to fill in for Schoop.

matthew0211 Verified Member Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Rochester had a shortage of position players on its roster after putting Rooker on the IL. This is simply minor league depth.

It’s not entirely crazy to sign a 35 YO former major leaguer who played for the Nats in 2017 when your AAA team is decimated and your relying every day on Jake Cave
