God I hope so!.... but selecting his contract I believe means he’s added to the 40 man roster.... hence being on ML forum

I believe by selecting his contract, he will be replacing someone on the 25 man roster. Presumably Schoop.

No 40 man roster spot is involved here. The MLB club didn't select him from one of their affiliates. The org purchased his contract from an indy league team. The terminology is admittedly confusing!

glad to see that New Britain still has a team.  de Aza was a passable player for awhile. Must be plugging a leak somewhere in the minor leagues, when they bring someone up to fill in for Schoop.

It made sense when I thought de Aza was coming to the big league level to replace Schoop.

Rochester had a shortage of position players on its roster after putting Rooker on the IL. This is simply minor league depth.

I know that it's becoming en vogue around here to pile on Falvey and Levine, but it's hard to imagine any scenario that they'd sign a 35 year old from independent ball, without so much as a single inning of experience anywhere but the outfield, to play middle infield on a 58-36 ballclub.

the 25 man currently has 7 IF and 3 OF with Cave being one of the OF. It’s not entirely crazy to sign a 35 YO former major leaguer who played for the Nats in 2017 when your AAA team is decimated and your relying every day on Jake Cave

I was talking about signing him to play middle infield on the MLB club, which sorry, would be entirely crazy.
