USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 I think someone should make me read this every time I'm feeling a little sorry for myself over some relatively minor trouble or another. I can't even imagine the pain of something like this. Ballplayers have lives outside of work, like the rest of us. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/rich-hill-mlb-dodgers
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 That is devastating. Words don't really do any of it justice. Just devastating. It certainly puts things in perspective. Thanks for sharing Chief!
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 That was a heart wrenching article to read, I give Rich Hill a ton of credit for his willingness to be public with his grief.
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Heartbreaking. And a wonderful read. Thank you, Mr. Chief.
bird Verified Member Posted May 2, 2019 Posted May 2, 2019 Unknowingly, Brooks gave his parents and his brother an amazing gift to go along with their unspeakable heartbreak, and they've been generous enough of heart to re-gift it to those of us fortunate enough to read his story. Thanks for sharing this, Chief.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 What a wonderful, heartbreaking story. I only say wonderful because of his ability to work through such heartbreak and write such a passionate piece about his child. I'll just go crysob over here for a minute and be back.
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Thanks for passing this along, Chief. When I was a teenager, I was a pallbearer for a very young child's funeral. Often when I read something like this I think of that day. I don't ever want to see that kind of grief again. Ever! I can't conceive of what it would be like to go through it oneself.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 What an amazing job he did, describing the thought processes and emotions. You could think it and feel it. These are stories that we all need to listen to... when someone needs to tell it.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 What a beautiful story, and what a lovely family. Brooks Hill.
biggentleben Verified Member Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Rich Hill and Pat Neshek discussing their families will quickly remind you that baseball is about way more than just a business. Obviously, in any business with as many employees as MLB (even just players), there will be stories like this, but it's still great to hear it.
ashbury Verified Member Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Every once in a while I get a little reminder of how lucky Mrs Ash and I have been. Not just with our own offspring, but even in our extended family we've run into nothing like this. Everything pales in comparison. Just incomprehensible.
