Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 My way too soon to mean anything reaction so far? I thought we hired DeFilippo, not Norv Turner.I sure hope we don't plan to be as vanilla as that first drive was.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Also, Treadwell can't play, period. Stop playing him just because he was a first round pick. Busts happen, move on.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 It's a tad conservative to be sure. I've also concluded Tom Compton is horrible.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 27-10 VikesHey, no spoilers, please.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 That was a beautiful throw.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 And that's why they spent the 84 million. What a throw.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Well that was just awful. Hopefully they get their 2 minute drill cleaned up. And am I the only one who though 6 seconds was plenty of time for a 5-7 yard sideline throw to setup a long FG?
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 The screen pass was a weird call in a 2 minute drill.
jimmer Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 That McDonald's commercial was hilarious. You go, Grandma!
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 I knew the interior of this oline would be a work in progress, but I was hopeful that they wouldn't look this bad.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Hughes looks legit though.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 You know, Cousins might be a pretty good fit.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 Those are both TD passes that are unlikely to be completed by Keenum. This offense looks really solid.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 Rare blown play by Hitman.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 I gotta say, this Vikings defense hasn't been nearly as dominant as I thought they'd be.They're actually kind of getting torched. Some bad throws and drops have kept the score lower than it should be. The niners have had guys beat deep all day, and the pass rush has disappeared at times.

The defense had some dumb penalties but constantly pressured the 49ers and made several turn overs. Does look like the secondary has some work to do but generally I'm far more worried about the OL.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 I think this is a win that ages well. Nice to see the defense force 4 turnovers.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 No such thing as a bad win in the NFL.But if the defense lets guys get that open against Brady, Brees, and Rodgers, they won't be as fortunate. On paper though, they certainly have the personnel to tighten some of that stuff up.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 That 49erz team has some talent. Vikings looked pretty solid and especially liked cousins. Offensive line is a little weak and secondary had some lapses. Really encouraged by the pressure from the front 5 today. Forcing elite qbs like Rodgers into bad throws will help this team win big games.
gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Slightly off topic but watching Packers/Bears it's pretty clear how dangerous Rodgers is.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Slightly off topic but watching Packers/Bears it's pretty clear how dangerous Rodgers is.Huge fan, and I'm a lifelong Vikings fan.....
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 I thought him and Joe Buck were going to be lovers forever... Alas.

Richardson was a beast yesterday and Jimmy G looked uncomfortable all day. Had Cook not fumbled I think the game would’ve gotten really lopsided early.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2018 Author Posted September 10, 2018 Rodgers is the most dangerous player in the NFL. The Packers deserve to be 0-1 and he single handedly bailed them out.
SF Twins Fan Verified Member Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Rodgers is the most dangerous player in the NFL. The Packers deserve to be 0-1 and he single handedly bailed them out. He covers up so many warts on the Packers it's unreal. They're a terrible team if he's not playing and last year and the first half yesterday proved that.

Had Cook not fumbled I think the game would’ve gotten really lopsided early. I agree with you on the Cook fumble although it was one of those things that happens when you make an incredible play. 1. The Niners are not a terrible team. 2. They adjusted well and found a way to use misdirection to their advantage, although some of this was having a young CB in the game and some of it was the fact it was game 1 of the season. I think other teams will try some of these misdirection and hopefully we will improve defending them. 3. The offense was ok. Cousins is a very good quarterback. 4. I agree that Tom Compton isn't a good enough starter and I predict Aviante Collins will be the starter next week at LG. 5. There seems to be something in the running game design that isn't working 100% with Dalvin Cook. Murray looked better running the ball from scrimmage, although I will give the benefit of the doubt to Cook because he is rusty after a long time away with the ACL tear. 6. I think it is obvious, even a one game sample, that hte Vikings got the better quarterback deal although listening to the pre-game you would not believe that.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 As soon as Cook came out of that pile I had a bad feeling he was going to get stripped. If you're a RB who has just escaped a near inescapable spot and then see only green in front of you, I'll bet you let your guard down a tad. Seems to me that happened to AP a dozen or so times. As for the Packers? I just hate them so much. For a team that has a priortiy list for the last 30 years that looks like this: 1. Have an all time elite QB fall into our laps2. ???3. ???4. ???5. ??? they have never earned the fortitude to get bailed out time and time again. I don't wish anyone to get hurt, but they deserve to get stung due to their perpetual and intentional lack of contingency and the overall mediocrity of the other 52 players on the team
