Man, our offense is already bad enough, you might as well go down swinging against Colon. Hoping for good calls on borderline pitches like Grossman and Kepler just did is dumb.

BTW, Grossman has no power, has no defensive position, and his OBP skills have eroded. Why do we need him on the roster? Veteran-ness?

Grossman really disappoints me this year.

Last year, I thought he'd turned the corner and become a decent fielder with a good bat.

And, of course, Mr. Grossman regressed with a vengeance this year.

Everyone but Eduardo and Eddie have been disappointing this year. Every one.

That's it?

Sadly, I doubt they'll pull the plug on him this year. As long as the pitchers that would succeed with or without him continue to succeed, they'll point to his game-calling abilities as reason to keep him around. Throw in a hit once a week and it's smooth sailing for him.

This FO seems to be bullish on the veterans they bring in.

I think the front office is reluctant to admit their plan for backups was flawed from the start. There was no option but Wilson when they needed a catcher. LaMarre as the primary reserve OFer. Adrianza on the 25 man, with nothing behind him so you get Motter. Etc etc.

That can't be right. I was told the new FO was different than the previous FO. I'm starting to think someone lied to me.

Wait and see.

I wonder if the new FO thought the team would regress this year after the way the played last year and have run things accordingly.

The prospects for the season really took a U turn with the polanco suspension.

Although he may come back and stink it up since he’s off the sauce

Yeah, but I think Mr. Grossman stands out in that sea of disappointment.

Well, wait a second! What about By-... Mig-... Pola-... Pres-...

Dang it.

I might have him at 4th or 5th On the offensive disappointments list.

LaMarre as the primary reserve OFer.

So we hate .313 SLG and 78 OPS+ now? And let's not forget the .388 BABIP.

I don't think he's hit it into the outfield since the bicentennial.

I hated LaMarre on the roster before it was cool. :-)

But, yeah, I think you nailed in 100%

The backups they brought in/kept would have been fine ... if the starters remained 100% healthy for 100% of the year. Since that never happens, the entire process was flawed.

I think the whole team is infected with a malaise of some sort they just cannot seem to shake off.

Anyway, I looked up Wilson's career stats and they are ugly. Career .208 hitter.

I think there's only a handful of us that weren't fooled by the ST numbers and blinded by the fact that he's a one-of-us-in-law.

Yeah, but it was .214 before this year. So this prolonged slump is really taking its toll on him.

BCE is doubly descriptive of today’s starting pitcher for the Rangers. It would be the initials to explain his phenomenon, eg the Bartolo Colon Experience. And, would also describe his birthdate: Before the Common Era...

How can one team be so bad on the base paths? Multiple times a week we're giving up free outs.

I had to visit the doc last Friday. My memory has gotten...unreliable.

So I talked to my doc about it. He told me that, unfortunately, memory loss is just one of those “aging” things, and there wasn’t anything he could do about it.

He thought for a moment, then kindly reminded me about my unpaid $3000 bill from my last visit.

Dick says it always seems to happen that a baserunning mistake is followed by a hit.

He’s right, but usually only bad teams do that

Our fundamentals have been abysmal for such a long time

Who's the baserunning coach nowadays? He should probably be fired.

Mistakes happen from time to time to everyone, but guys like LaMarre, Rosario, and Dozier just eff it up out there all the time.

The sad thing is they could be even worse on the bases than they are - think of the times when Dozier goes for something and catches the defense off-guard because it's such an unbelievably bad decision. (Although that's not a new thing.)

Dozier is a great base runner, IMO.

Maybe a little out of practice this year...
