ashbury Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/03/twins-closing-in-on-deal-with-lance-lynn.html "According to a tweet from Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Twins are “closing in” on a deal with Lance Lynn. In a separate tweet, Heyman notes that the deal is expected to be for one year. Jon Morosi of MLB.com reports that the deal will be worth more than $10MM." Updated a very few minutes later to... The Twins have agreed to terms on a one-year, $12MM deal with right-hander Lance Lynn, Jon Morosi of MLB.com tweets. Morosi also notes that the total value of the deal could increase to $14MM if Lynn achieves certain performance bonuses. An earlier tweet from Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reported that the Twins were “closing in” on a deal with Lance Lynn (Heyman later noted that the deal was expected to be for one year), while Morosi himself reported in a separate tweet that the deal would be worth more than $10MM.The deal makes Lynn the latest victim of a slow-moving offseason in which a number of high-profile players have been forced to settle for one-year deals that look diminutive in comparison to those they were expected to receive.More to come…

twinscowboysbulls Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Lose your first round pick for a 1 year deal?
Brandon Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 This makes me happy and I now have 92 percent forgiveness for not signing Darvish. Once deal is completed of course. The other 8 percent will come when were in the playoffs....
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Lose your first round pick for a 1 year deal?I think they'll lose their third rounder... rules are a bit different than previous off-seasons.
terrydactyls Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Lance Lynnis a TwinE-I-E-I-O
twinscowboysbulls Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I think they'll lose their third rounder... rules are a bit different than previous off-seasons.Thank goodness. Would’ve you guys preferred Lynn over Cobb?
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I think they give up the 3rd pick around 90 something. I guess that pick is just blue sky, better than giving up semi proven prospects at the deadline for 2 months.
KirbyDome89 Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 That second tweet is particularly interesting. I'm curious how much a one year deal with a chance to reset his value for next offseason influenced his decision. I guess without details of the other offers it's hard to tell, but I would guess those other offers also included more years of team control at a lower AAV.

"My client is I am grudgingly accepting thrilled to join the Twins. My client I could have taken 2 years for $16M total more guaranteed money but preferred to try again next off-season join a team on the upswing." Which... is fine.

The other 8 percent will come when were in the playoffs....It would have been very nice to have landed Darvish but the Front office did solidify the rotation with Odorizzi and Lynn as well as sign another chip that might contribute late in the season going into 2019 in Pineda.
IndianaTwin Verified Member Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 I don't care if this is agent-speak... @jonmorosiLance Lynn had offers from other @MLB teams that would have guaranteed him more money, but he preferred the fit with the #Twins and believes in their chance to win right now. ...but how good is that to hear someone say "believes in their chance to win right now" about the Twins?!?!
