I said below median. Under halfway is below median.

I'll check, brb....

Fangraphs:

12 of 22 qualified 2B in WAR. (right on median)

8th of 11 qualified in the AL (that's not median)

He's closer to 16h overall, than 10th overall.

What does it say when your team does not have a 2b that is not qualified?  You have poor 2b,  would be the general answer.   Anyone the Blue Jays Rays, , and the like are performing far worse than Dozier even though they do not have anyone that has qualified. You can't just ignore the teams that have under performance at 2b just because no one is qualified.  Well, you can ignore them, it just makes your comparisons weak.

fair, but how far down should I go in ABs? I mean, Escobar has ABs at 2B, I think. How long should the list be of potential 2B I check against?

Mike Trout isn't qualified right now, does that mean the Angels don't have a good CF? Didi Gorgeous, not qualified. Merwin Gonzalez? not qualified. Aaron Hicks, not qualified. Ben Gamel, not qualified. that's on page 1 of the MLB WAR leaderboard, btw.

He's 8th in the AL, how's that? Exactly median.

I would be shocked, and impressed, if they ate money to get a better prospect back. Shocked.

I recently heard an interview with Levine and he said he got the thumbs-up from the Pohlads to eat some salaries and increase the payroll, so I believe it.

that's what Ryan always said too.

I'll believe it when it happens.

well, he's right about league average (just below) too (overall...., he's below in the AL).

How so below? MLB 2B have a 97 wRC+, AL 2B have a collective 98, and Dozier is at 103. (Unadjusted OPS tells the same story too.)

well, I'm including defense. and baserunning. were we only talking about offense?

he's right about average. aren't we both pretty much saying that? if 103 isn't within the margin of error of 97/98.....I don't know what is.

We're pretty much all saying that, yeah. I forgot what side I'm on again. :)

As far as stats, I was using offense because it was easier. But using WAA, he is still slightly above average, right?

In this very thread people have said he's cooked and he's a fringe fifth starter.

I said he's pitched like a 5th starter SINCE HIS FIRST 5 HOT/LUCKY WEEKS.

That is entirely different than saying he IS a fringe fifth starter.

It's a fact that is how he's pitched since then. People can have their own opinion of what to make of that fact.

Could very well just be a slump. At his age, I don't want to be the one on the hook for finding out.

Other than saying that this season Dozier is playing at a league median the ranking doesn't mean much. Any team trading for him really is not going to care one bit of feces about that. What does Dozier bring to a team that they do not have is the first thing. How does he fit into the team offense.? How much better would Dozier be if he had a better number 2 hitter behind him?

He's 12th in baseball. Games actually played do matter.

Really at a loss here.

Dozier is 12th of 22 qualified MLB second basemen in OPS. He's also 12th of the same 22 in WAR. That would be the lower half.

And who anywhere doesn't think games played matter? What are you trying to say?

He means there are more games played than just those by the qualifiers.

Thank you for the clarification. I didn't get that from 'games played matter'.

Usually if someone is trading for a 2B they want someone who plays 2B. And he's number 22 in OPS among players with 10 PA this year as second basemen. At that point then there are 21 people who play 2B posting a higher OPS than he is.

Ah, never mind. Maybe we'll get a top of the rotation starter for him.

My point was simply that I don't think so.

I think that's an important piece to consider as well. The human element of it that we as fans don't know. Obviously Berrios has taken huge strides this year and trending towards being a top of the rotation pitcher. Has it been Ervin's guidance that's helped him the most? The pitching coach? If Ervin were to be traded, how would that affect Berrios? These are all questions we don't know, but the FO should know and take into consideration.

Since Jose's ERA and bb/9 have increased every month, and his k/9 has decreased every month, maybe we should trade Santana away so he stops mentoring Berrios.

Selling Kintzler and Garcia now certainly provided depth for 2018 with a chance Enns can throw meaningful innings for the 2018 Twins.

Retaining Santana gives them a better starter than they could have found for 13 million.

I am glad they didn't sell 2018 when they sold for this year.
