I have no idea how that is possibly ruled a hit. An on target throw gets him. Why even have fielding stats?

I'm kinda curious to know- if anyone does. How do advanced fielding metrics handle that?

And we're in the lead in spite of it.

When 3/5's of the games you play are spent waiting until your two good pitchers start, and one of those pitchers gives you FIVE whole innings...

Where where? I always thought it was hear hear, as in an old timey vernacular for "I hear that!"

In North Dakota, with its population density of 0.8 persons per square mile, it's "Here! Here!". Otherwise they'd never find each other, even when it's not a blizzard whiteout.

Because making an on-target throw was very difficult in that situation.

Does Boozenutz have any other pitches besides fastball with no movement?

Posted

20 years ago that was an error.

If I didn't make that play at 3B in beer league softball.. I'd be upset with myself.

Yeah, stuff alright.

His slider is tight and his fastball has late life.

He could use another pitch as a change of pace but if he locates that fastball better. He could be decent.

With Busenitz being a hard thrower, it's another chance for Bert to talk about pitcher velocity like an elderly Civil War veteran deriding the horseless carriage as an "infernal machine".

He wasn't deriding velocity. Merely deriding not being able to locate velocity. Which Busenitz is not doing.

He allegedly throws a changeup and a curve. When asked by a fan at a spring training game if Boozynuts' last pitch was a changeup or a curve, an Angels scout reportedly said "Yes".
