Blake Verified Member Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 You didn't look at your neighbor's windowsill to see if a pie was out there? Do people still put pies on windowsills? What year is this?"Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?" is not a documentary.
GP830 Verified Member Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I read the Twinkie Town Mejia article yesterday. The thing that I can't escape from with him-- is it possible he's more than just a fifth starter? I read about his dominance of minor league ball, his command of 3 pitches, and his maturity. The biggest negative you see is about his body type. But, King Felix would probably be considered a #5 guy too if only for his body type. My questions is-- is it possible we've got a better asset here than the pundits will give us credit for? Or is he just a solid performing 5th guy?

I don't think his ceiling is much more than middle of the rotation but the guy cracked a midseason top 100 list IIRC. His upside isn't nothing. And he's still only 23 years old. He's not a 26 year old MiLB journeyman.

Circus Boy Verified Member Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Did everyone eat pie yesterday? Pi one day, ides the next. Then a day off to get ready for green beer. Life's a party, I's tells ya.
GP830 Verified Member Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 History is riddled with stories of players who were suppose to be "pretty good" but ended up being "really good." I guess I'll choose to drink from the half-full glass of cool-aid today...

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 If we really want to get crazy, tomorrow is National Everything You Do is Right! Day. So if you've never changed the oil in your car, and decide to do it tomorrow, have no fear! You're doing things the right way.

I know he doesn't have the fancy pedigree, but he gets the Ks and minimizes the walks. HR rate is a bit high in my opinion and his hit rate rose in AAA. Not sure I'd call him ready, but he's definitely more than a back end type.

D. Hocking Verified Member Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 President's Day? I am not sure St. Urho's Day Eve is the right time to be making controversial statements.
