Per the job description at Baseball Prospectus:

 

Analyze and evaluate relevant performance trends and tendencies of upcoming opponents using video, scouting information, data, and advanced metrics to write, compile, and distribute advance scouting reports for the Major League Manager, Major League coaching staff, Front Office, and players prior to each series.

 

 

There's more detail on the specifics of the job at BP. Unfortunately, there is no indication whether the position is compensated but if you were already seeking work in the industry, you are probably aware it involves long hours and little pay.
