Interesting development - I am guessing Trump will blast the CIA at 3:00 am tomorrow morning.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/mike-flynn-nsa-aide-trump-234923

I cannot even keep track of everything anymore.  Somehow I suspect there will be at least one moment where Trump does something clueless with the Japanese Prime Minister while golfing this weekend.  Plus, how much is he lining his own pockets by having all of these events on his own properties.  I heard he is going to charge the secret service for rent at Trump Towers.

Being that he is going golfing again, I am sure all of the people how had mini-strokes every time Obama golfed are as just as upset that Trump is golfing again.

Sorry to temporarily hijack the thread, but I think it's important. Yeah I will admit there's a little bit of emotion speaking.

However, I am still waiting to see a sustained effort by Democrats to go talk with their constituents and take action. That is the only way I feel "our side" will get anything meaningful done or re-earn anyone's respect. Should I hold my breath? That is what I am wondering.

I was there and will say this was fairly interesting. This town hall was in the town I live, kinda like a Minnetonka or maple grove of salt lake

I love this:

"Trump in a Friday afternoon gaggle aboard Air Force Once said he was unaware of the report that Flynn had discussed the sanctions with the Russian but said he would "look into that.""

Which is worse...he didnt actually know about this, when its been all over the news, or he did know, and chose to lie about it?

I'll go with "didnt know" as worse, by a nose.

Ben: Possibly. "Here comes the politician from the cities in her fake working-man outfit surrounded by men in expensive dress clothes, and they've only got 25 minutes for us." As long as she's having honest conversations with people and not checking her watch, it's better than nothing. Who knows.

Good to see. Like another poster said, being in the opposition is maybe the best way for a coalition to take for.

Perhaps, but she had earned the nickname "Klobu-b****" in her professional life from her tactics before ever running for office, which stinks hard to a rural voter. To be honest, it's one of the major disconnects that the recent South Dakota legislature had with repealing an initiative that was flat-out unconstitutional and dramatically underfunded as written. Rather than appealing to voters in rural areas with people who spoke their language, they sent folks from Sioux Falls and Rapid City to the media, and it came off even worse.

Whether or not the politician is right or wrong, their message can be totally lost on a certain group based on their background, and often times it's simply due to an inability to relate. Klobuchar would strike me as someone who would struggle heavily to relate to a rural voter outside Olivia, for instance.

Cottonwood Heights? My son lives about 5 miles west of you.

Since you were there, did you have a feeling that a lot of the people in attendance were not from the congressional district? Because that's the allegation.

Yes very easily, but with the way Utahs districts are drawn( basically the state is in 4 quadrants with salt lake being split up about even with a little less for the north east one that includes park city) it makes sense. Also considering he is the most prominent congressman here for his investigations into Clinton and his position, I think it makes sense that people want to hear what he has to say, not on fox or cnn, but in person, about how he plans on ensuring the new administration is kept in check. I don't care much for the man, opportunistic and pretty crappy overall, but I think he has actual belief in reforming govt and not just the **** our current administration seems to want. And as I've mentioned before, people here are dead red and all, but not stupid and fairly libertarian. They hated trump too. So...yeah. I liked his and Cummings, even symbolic actions against Conway as well. I just can't imagine say, Erik Paulson going to a town hall in like Plymouth and being received so poorly, and obviously here is much more antipathetic towards "democrat ideas"

On the plus side, making things in depth and complicated makes it much harder for the Republicans to overturn it - most especially the brain surgeons running the operation now. So at least the legacy stays.

I know a couple people who have golfed with him (years ago) they said he is terrible and one of the worst cheats they have ever seen. Trump is so self conscious though (shocking) that people just would laugh it off between themselves.

Three weeks + into a Trump Administration and I'm worried for my country. Donald Trump scares me and I'm a white old guy. The character flaws should have disqualified him and they grow more evident with each passing day. When confronted with facts he doesn't like--the size of the crowd at his inauguration or the popular vote--he will not accept those facts. He is ignorant of so much law and history and there seems to be no one there to filter him. Along with all that, there seems to be no hint of class or decency. Comparing how Obama and other previous presidents have dealt with adversaries compared to how Trump has approached them is telling

It appears that Bannon is his most trusted advisor and Bannon's world view is not even close to the mainstream and probably not close to reality. Bannon and Trump's preoccupation with "radical Islamic terrorism" will probably poison the Islamic world against the United States for decades. The nationalistic blather on top of the wall and immigrant ban is all about fear and resentment. What a stew these guys are brewing up!

I've seen a ton of postings on social media saying that we should accept Trump as president. I guess we have to do that, but I also believe that we, the public, need to continue to resist and protest. This president was elected with a -2.84M plurality and with pretty substantial evidence that a foreign power was doing all they could to get him elected. I accept that he is president, but question his legitimacy.

I'm worried about the country and the world based on the damage he has done and will potentially do in the future.

But I'm also encouraged by the continual protest, the challenging of Congress at their town halls, and the fact that Trump is cratering in polls and is the least popular President this quickly ever. And he still hasn't faced an external crisis.

Concur on all counts.

I try to ignore them, but I have recurring worries about our nation's ability to recover from this. I have never felt that way, no matter how much I disagreed with a president in the past.

Richard Nixon voluntarily gave up the office, for the good of the nation. I can't picture Trump doing that.

On the plus side, Melissa McCarthy's "Spicey" is absolutely brilliant.

Rosie's Bannon, if ever unleashed on the world, might also be.

/ OK, it's just a photoshoop at this point, but still...

I think the saner Trump voters are going to abandon him. I just wish I knew how many of those there are. I'd roughly guess his voters are about 50/50 made up of "piss off liberals" vs. people who actually expect him to follow through on things. Which he has no intention of doing, as we know. Trump is going to drag this immigrant-hating out for months to the exclusion of everything else, and people are going to get sick of it. I hope.

So much for casting SNL anymore, when it's just Hollywood folks flying in and taking over :)

I know that there are some people who like Uncle Hank on this site (Henry Rollins).

If you have almost 3 hours to invest, this a podcast of Joe Rogan with HR, it is really good and fair.

The political talk is between the 1HR-2HR mark.

Really fantastic stuff!
