biggentleben Verified Member Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Bartolo and CC each had their own as well, though it was funny to see someone misspell CC's name and end up not triggering the filter.
GCTF Verified Member Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Son of Sal. I don't remember Gardy having his own filter but he really didn't need one as the "MInnesota Tail Battlers" forum was pretty much dedicated to him.
joethastud Provisional Member Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Gardy most definitely had his own filter..... I'm spacing on who the actor was.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 I'm also 99.9% convinced that Sydney Ponson fan was actually Sydney Ponson himself. I remember checking the IP logs and they lined up BIG time to where the Twins were staying at the time. (Minneapolis, Ft Myers and on the road)
GCTF Verified Member Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Of course, Burl! Pretty disappointed I forgot about that.
joethastud Provisional Member Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 After looking at the Burl Ives album, weren't words like center, humor, and color switched to the Canadian spellings? I seem to remember that.

snepp Verified Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 A gold glove 2B with a .300 averageMy god I miss that Luis Castillo filter. Perfect. My favorite, and super-fun to fit into a sentence.
snepp Verified Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Or Pitcherpottamus Channeling my inner-Dave, I have to take full credit for this one*. *at least as far as my booze-worn memory recalls, someone will have to hit the archives.

Rather something that just caught on.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Narf....good lord I forgot about him.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 O man I missed the turn of this thread. You missed little Nicky punto, bradke, slap single, past a diving Batista... I loved making new filters. Being a mod was fun too, especially since we had a ton of leeway. Those were the days...
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Loved the Radke Chuck Norris thread!

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 My favorite part of BYTO was the Wiki we had running for a year or so. The entries on Canada and Juan Castro were the highlights.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Talk about going off the rails....

TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Talk about going off the rails.... Yeah, this is now a BYTO nostalgia meeting. Sorry.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Lol yesIs the wiki still alive somewhere? The dankind section was amazing as well. No, we lost the wiki through atrophy. We mostly stopped using it and then the software fell behind the curve, which meant the wiki was flooded with spam due to vulnerabilities. I made a few attempts to save the database but ultimately gave up and nuked it (the thing had ballooned to something like 5GB).

(whispers) "what?" "Excuse me, generals. I meant to say, five GIGA bytes..." (whispers) "wait, seriously???" "I'm sorry, give me a moment while my associates... uh, five TERA by-...?" (whispers) "oh, give me a break, ssshhhh, they have those at frickin' Best Buy now?" "What about... five peta... bytes?... Peta? That would be what's extraordinarily expensive to acquire? Good. Yes, definitely. I want a hard drive with five PETA bytes. Mua ha ha ha ha ha hah!!!"
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Canada Mexico BYTO Well done sir.

Badsmerf Verified Member Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 Who wrote that? How, i mean, why do they think i like big women? I remember verve and his wife.... Does anyone remember posting on the espn boards? I don't think moderators even existed then. When did those boards die? It's too bad nobody on this site knows what sluts rule means. Those were the days.... wild and free. Posting while high and drunk in college, introducing noobs to sabermetrics, debating the validity of how clutch Derek Jeter actually is (didn't we have a filter for him?), and if course... watching playoff games.

Being a lone island in a sea of White Sox fans I needed a Twins community and that was it. I jumped to BYTO when it was formed. Being older and female it wasn't exactly my environment but I still enjoyed it. You guys were all certainly entertaining and it was fun watching you all grow up. <snick>
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Wow. Wish I had known about byto. Sounds a bit more fun....
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Wow. Wish I had known about byto. Sounds a bit more fun....I mean it certainly was "more fun and loose" but to be fair to Twins Daily, BYTO was a much smaller community and nobody was trying to make it into anything that resembled a business, BYTO also had nil when it came to official "blogs" so while it was certainly more "fun" TwinsDaily provides a ton more info/takes/scoops etcIt was a very awesome crew though, there were some epic epic epic threads. I remember when I went by the name: MackBrownSwallows...and JoeThaStud used to flip me **** for my first year about going to school in Oklahoma.Do any of you guys remember when we did the live game "chats" instead of threads for a few months? Those were actually pretty fun. Also we really really really should bring back the drunken rambling thread: Brock had some very memorable posts in that thread, but none could top "rongardenhire"Let's remember a few guys that I wish posted here:Awesome/bro tier:MuskOFXFroDaddyGLamboVerveTroll Tier:DankindStatfreakItstimetotakeitJustanotherfanNarf LOL Tier:RongardenhireTrolPoDPJ Tier:DPJKobs Tier:Klobs
