Chicago is in Cleveland for Game 1 of the World Series. Feel free to discuss throughout the game.

Lineups:

CUBS:

Dexter Fowler CF
Kris Bryant 3B
Anthony Rizzo 1B
Ben Zobrist LF
Kyle Schwarber DH
Javier Baez 2B
Chris Coghlan RF
Addison Russell SS
David Ross C
Jon Lester P

Jason Heyward, who signed a 10-year, $184 million deal with the Cubs last offseason, is again out of the lineup, benched for Chris Coghlan. Of course, the Schwarber decision is very interesting. After being hurt in the 2nd game of the season, he had surgery, rehabbed, and was activated last week. He played a game or two in the AFL, and now is batting 5th in the World Series.

CLEVELAND:

Rajai Davis LF

Jason Kipnis 2B

Francisco Lindor SS

Mike Napoli 1B

Carlos Santana DH

Jose Ramirez 3B

Brandon Guyer LF

Lonnie Chisenhall RF

Roberto Perez C

Corey Kluber SP

Who will win tonight in Game 1? Who will play hero?

Question: how long can I player be injured on the field before being told by the umpires to leave the game? Rule? (I'm sure it's vague)

I was wondering that too.  There should actually be a rule that spares of having to watch Santana drink a Gatorade pack.  It would be nice if Santana could just sub out for a couple plays/minutes until he recovers without losing his spot, but of course teams would take advantage of that.  Alternatively you could have the opposing team pick the bench player, but that seems logistically impossible.

And I think you're right about the actual rule being subjectively permissive.  In a World Series, there's no chance that an umpire would invoke it, with such discretion.

I don't know why I can't get behind the Cubs. I think it might be an American League thing.

I'm right there with you, bro.

You have to leave him out there for one more inning, right?

It's only game one but damn. The bullpen won't be better.

I would leave him in for the 7th. They want him starting game 4 but damn is right. Don't give the Cubs any chance to rally back in this game.

Uh, yeah, okay.

Yay, Francona? He's a good manager but he's one of those guys who has a bit too much managin' to do too much of the time.

Francona is a GREAT manager.  Top 3.

I'm not sure I disagree with the move myself, though it's starting to look bad.
