Last time we lost 100

We would have had a real chance at 100 losses given a full 162 game schedule in 1995. 88 losses in 144 games prorates to 99 over 162.

How many games did we miss out playing Cleveland?

Historically awful team. It is really hard to be this bad. There was a time after the all-star break that the Twins had the best second half record in baseball. They were back to only 20 games under.500. They dropped another 24 games below since. Molitor is a horrible manager.... not opinion, just fact supported by the record. To lead this team to tanking instead of inspiring the young supposed future stars, there is a lot of his guidance that was responsible.

I can't believe how badly we mis-cast Randy Johnson.  He should have been pitching.  I suppose, as the Alex Meyer threads all point out, he was a late bloomer, so maybe we shouldn't really be too harsh.

We did it! It really happened this time! I've been looking forward to this moment for years. Incredible feeling.

Still Living up to your name I see.

Maybe this thread should be restarted sometime in mid January when the pain and anger have slowly started to ebb.

100!

Yay!  Congrats, boys!  We made it!

That's a good reference point for this article.  I went to a lot of games in 82.  Yes, we stank up the league, but it was a different feeling, because you could see it comin'.  Jeepers-- Hrbek, Gaetti, Bruno (as a player), Frankie V, Timmy Laudner, and a few other pieces of the glory years were just making their debuts.  I had a heck of a lot better feeling with 102 losses that year, than this time around.  There are lots of promising pieces now, as there were then, but I've got zero trust in the FO and the dugout that they can get those guys to develop into a strong team.  Zero.  Like the ones after the number "1" in "100."

Check out this Roster. PS. We drafted Kirby that year...

Here's to 2 more WS in rings in the next 5-9 years.

The #1 pick that the Twins got from the horrible 82 season went to Tim Belcher who never played for the Twins.  He refused to sign with the team.  He was drafted again by the Yankees the following year and passed through a few different teams before debuting with the Dodgers in 87.

Belcher had an OK career.  He peaked during at the same time the Twins peaked (87-91).  He would have helped the Twins in that era, but he was not good after that.  As it turns out the Twins didn't need him as they got two rings in that time frame.  He went 9-6 v. the Twins in his career.

Puckett was drafted in 1982, but this pick was based on the Twins 1981 performance.  He was the #3 pick.

You are correct, but he was actually the #3 pick in the now-discontinued January draft.  Not sure how that #3 would translate to the standard June draft...

Just imagine how bad the season could really have gone without Santana?

LOL, If you make it to 100 I'll buy you a box of cuban cigars and we can smoke one together, althought at that age it might be deadly.

I knew this. Point being simply, I sure hope the new PBO and GM can do what we did last time we lost this much, turn a bunch of talent into some rings.

Buxton, Kepler, Rosario vs Puckett, Brunansky

Sano vs Gaetti

Vargas vs HrBek

Berrios vs Viola

We have some talent for sure...
