Pretty sure I just heard Dick say this about the 7th place AL catcher by WAR (>150 AB's):  "With his recent hot streak, we have to talk about All Star consideration for Kurt Suzuki".

Watching Gibby give up a couple of leads already makes me reflect on this exercise.

Man, Howard is just brutal anymore.

IMO, the Phillies should DFA Howard and eat the money. Then they should claim Arcia and teach him how to play 1B, and then boom, you get a big improvement and a somewhat young player who has pop.

 

I'm pretty sure Arcia could learn how to play 1B... he may not be doomed to play DH.
