LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 You could switch bad and ugly without too much dispute! . One of, if not the best Westerns of all time! A classic! Agree, and it was a coin flip. Chargie probably just had one of the ugliest meaningless outings of the year, but I went with the Jep's greater overall contribution to the futility of the season. Plus that's a pretty ugly picture of him.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 It's tough to look through that long, dark tunnel of dispair that is the 2016 Minnesota Twins, see another small glimmer of light at the end, and know, just KNOW, that it's yet another train barreling at you at 90 MPH. Another train that will mercilessly run you over as sure as the sun will rise in the morning. The Minnesota Twins: Abandon ye all hope."Abandon all hope, ye who enter here." - Slogan above Gate 34, Target Field.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 8 more walks, and a Grossman blast! And this one is all ours! Edit. Sorry, forgot about Plouffie.

Blake Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 So, I get home from shooting IDPA, and check in, yep, the Twins are losing, yep, Boston is pounding the Twins and yep, the game thread is a barrel of laughs. I just don't have enough morbid interest to see what Dick and Bert have to say about the game. Hopefully, next Saturday's Steel Challenge overlap the game. Although, I believe I'm responsible for the game threads next weekend so they'll have to go up early.

Yeah!" http://content.internetvideoarchive.com/content/photos/203/008545_6.jpg At least he got that first punch in the mouth over with right away and in a meaningless game, instead of sitting for a week and then being asked to protect one of maybe two or three sixth inning leads the Twins will have the rest of the month.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Watching the Twins is like watching Super Dave Osborne years ago. His suntan seemed like a great idea at the time, but you knew disaster was inevitable!

Hell, as long as you didn't shoot yourself, I'd wager you had more fun than any of us who watched this game.

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I like the optimism. This is the kind of game that gets right in the face of the media talking hairdos that have made the mistake of opining that 'Things can't get any worse for the Twins'. If I'm on the silver lining search committee, my sole contribution from watching today's train wreck would be 'Gibson's arm didn't fall off and he went six after a bad 1st'. Oh, and Kepler had a hit and a walk.

I had a couple of stages where I did okay but the rust of not shooting for a couple of months showed. Yep, I had a lot of fun. And what's really cool is we're getting a lot of female shooters too. We've grown from a good turnout is 30 people to 50 or more showing up, even in the heat of the summer.

I was gonna ask where at, but I see you're in California. Twin Cities seem to be weak on outdoor ranges. One over in Hudson at least and some decent indoor ranges nearby, but the indoors just don't compare to the outdoor ones, especially for long guns. Shot at a sweet free outdoor range when I was in Madison a month ago though. Never done any of the organized event stuff, but it's definitely intriguing.
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 So Anthony Lapanta goes home to visit mom for the Memorial Day weekend. She says "Anthony, tell me about this new job you have"? "Well mom, I do post game Twins analysis, I explain to the viewers what just happened!" "Mama Mia! Your poor father would be so disappointed! You promised him you would make him proud! Not peddle BS like some used car salesman!" Whoelse knows about this?" Sheepishly, "People who watch the Twins and the post game show" "Ave Maria, so at least no one else will know!"
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 The 2011 Twins went 19-49 after the All-Star game. This season we're looking worse, I'm afraid.
Teflon Verified Member Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 You'd think the prospect of ending up back in Sulphur, Louisianna would motivate a person to pitch a little better, wouldn't you? The only worse place I could think of is Colonoscopy, Mississippi.

Shot at a sweet free outdoor range when I was in Madison a month ago though. Never done any of the organized event stuff, but it's definitely intriguing. There are organized competitions available in MN. Bills does a couple of things. Unfortunately, with the weather in MN, hard to run outdoor gun competitions year round. I found this link and it looks like this is the range and club when it comes to shooting:http://www.grrc.org/about-2/range-information/ I've shot high power, Steel Challenge, IDPA and a couple of rifle/pistol matches. These clubs tend to be very welcoming of newcomers and are usually very good about encouraging people to continue. Don't worry about winning, just have fun! For instance, in rifle matches I shoot an M1 Garand. It's a hoot. I'm slow, but everyone wants to to see the Garand.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 But see, I had a plan! Nunez bunts down the third base line, Kepler breaks early for third base, but instead of sliding, he keeps running through the bag. Third baseman fields and fires to first. Kepler scores on a shockingly aggressive play. Fun times! Oh, and I forgot about Buxton. He rounds third when Kepler is half way home. On the bad throw to home, Buxton scores, too! Yahoo! That is the logical play where I live.
