I said i'd play sousaphone in a band marching in just such a parade this morning. But i'd already promised chief to post this thread intro. Well, through the pared down convenience of modern cellular technology, the moment it ends i can cut and paste directly... And it was a short parade.

 

Your homework assignment for this thread: Twins come in pairs, usually. Make a joke or tell a story or post a picture related somehow to pairs (pears, pares, pierres what have you) as you can see in the above, i done mine...

 

I have been local to the Red Socks for much of the past couple decades, so i am mildly sentimental about the various Minnesota sports players showing up on the Boston scene and winning championships. Lost in the Ortiz story is good ol' Douggie Baseball and the ball what broke the Bambino's curse. Garnett also won here, and that one wide out was somewhat instrumental in the historic 18-1 season.

 

The vehicle for this game thread intro which i wished to implement was a preview of coming attractions like at the movies, coming to a stadium near you. Alas filling an idea like that out takes more time and effort than i am currently up for...

 

I had a few chuckles coming up with one directed by Ridley Scott called Baserunner. The one scene i put thought into was a job interview, perhaps at twins daily...

 

So there's a tortoise on second base...

 

What's a tortoise?

Same thing.

 

Anyway, his helmet came off, but he can't leave the base, and your just watching him stretch helplessly to get it and your not doing anything...

 

(i forget exactly how it goes from here...)

 

It was just a question designed to evoke an emotional response.

Phillies CF and LF have HORRIBLE arms.  Sad that MLB outfielders have such noddles.

 

I am reminded of Revere's throw home from short left center that 6 hopped to the plate trying to get speedster AJ Pierzinski who scored from 2B standing up (and laughing).

Sounds about right. I remember seeing him two-hop it to his cutoff man.

 

Imagine if Revere ever gets the Yips.

I'm not liking Gibson's command at the moment. It seems to come and go for him, during his career.

When was the last time we had a young starting pitcher who showed promise move to the next level and be a consistent reliable pitcher?  There have been a few names of young pitchers the last 2 to 3 years where we were excited to see what they could do, but none who really lived up to expectations - at least in regards to starting pitching.

The answer somewhat depends, IMO, on whether you think another organization could fix someone like Gibson. Is there something in his physical makeup that causes him to be inconsistent from game to game? When he's on, he's good. Today, like so often, he can't hit his spots, and he either walks guys or gets tattooed.
