So my friend, who's 85, told me the other day he was getting married.  "WHAT??!" I exclaimed.  "You're getting married?"  

 

"Yup," he said.  "And get this...she's 18 and pregnant.  I have to get married."

"Listen.  Let me tell you a story.  I went bear hunting a couple months ago.  Forgot my rifle, took my umbrella instead.  First morning, a big grizzly is 50 ft away...I raise my umbrella, point, pull the 'trigger' and the bear drops dead."

You are asking someone to come back  when the team started playing better once he left?

 

What is next - commenting on a no-hitter? (hypothetically speaking, if the Twins pitcher had a  no-hitter in play.)

Been watching bits and pieces, just checking in now. Great heads up play by the runner to take advantage of the ill-prepared infield defense. The closest fielder to third base was the pitcher, and he has to know it's his base when the infield is shifted. It's not something a pitcher would have needed to do often in the past, but in the modern era of shifts every player needs to know every possible play in every situation. That run was on Gibson and probably the coaching staff.

Call me an old cynic, but it seems to me a major league baseball team's manager should probably have thought about, and drilled into his infielders' consciousness "who is responsible for what, when we do the shift thing," long before opening day.

 

Such as, runner on first, LH hitter up, shift employed.  Seems like that might have some chance of coming up somewhere down the line.

Just noticed something. Ball four to Kepler got past the catcher and went back to the wall. Kepler runs to first base, but before he stopped at first, the catcher had handed the ball to the ump. That's a live ball. 

 

Anybody remember when Pete Rose stole second off a walk like that? Hard to do that if the ump calls time during an ongoing play.

Baseball is the only game you can decide what you will do before the play begins. Plus, would it be possible for Dozier to field a ground ball standing up? My 5 yr old granddaughter falls on ground balls during T ball.
