mnfireman Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Span's defense has sucked a** lately but maybe he should be DH'ing today because he has been raking! Unless there's more to his day off than just "getting a day off"....
greengoblinrulz Provisional Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Twins have commented they will give DeVries one more start at least. Because his 4.37 ERA is such an embarrasment that they would go back to Walters/Blackburn/Hendriks (whom I like)who havent pitched as well as Cole has so far. Last nite was the anomoly for Cole, but a good start for Blackburn.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 One man's anomaly is another man's regression.
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 One man's anomaly is another man's regression.Too true. I'd be surprised if De Vries can keep an ERA under 5. However, Blackburn's start in the minors is interesting. His GB ratio over over 2:1. I don't understand how he can't get GB here, then he goes to Rochester and gets them at a 2:1 clip. Anyone want to bet he starts again this season?

glunn Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Here we go again -- Twins look like they will give up runs in top of 1st inning.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 As has been said many times and many ways, taking Duensing out of the bullpen, where he was successful, and putting him back in the rotation, was and is idiotic.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 As has been said many times and many ways, taking Duensing out of the bullpen, where he was successful, and putting him back in the rotation, was and is idiotic.Agreed. Yet they keep sending him out there hoping for a different result.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 As has been said many times and many ways, taking Duensing out of the bullpen, where he was successful, and putting him back in the rotation, was and is idiotic. It's also embarrassing. As in it is embarrassing that this manager keeps doing this. Oakland loaded up on righties to match up against him and here are two runs in the first inning.

That we turn an actual asset into a pile of poop is frustrating to say the least.

VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Does anyone else think that Kelly droning on is not unlike listening to fingernails slowly scratching a blackboard?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I agree that Duensing is better in the bullpen. We all know that. But for what the Twins need now, I have no problem with them going with him. He's a given in the bullpen, but until the Twins have a much better rotation, it kind of is what it is. He hasn't been bad as a starter (obviously not a great 1st inning today).
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Does anyone else think that Kelly droning on is not unlike listening to fingernails slowly scratching a blackboard?Well put. And what he is saying is not interesting.
FrodaddyG Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 He hasn't been bad as a starter (obviously not a great 1st inning today).3 starts, 0-3. 11.1 IP. 7.15 ERA. Yes, he's been very, very bad.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Another awesome start. Brian has now allowed more runs than innings pitched as a starter.
mnfireman Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 And so on and so on and so on......
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I understand that, but as they were stretching him out, he was good for 3 innings. Then got hit. Then he was good for 4 innings and then got hit. Then he was doing OK when he got hit in the leg. He'll be back in the bullpen at some point, but I don't mind them having tried this again temporarilty.
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 3 starts, 0-3. 11.1 IP. 7.15 ERA. Yes, he's been very, very bad. Yeah, I was about to post those stats. And now it is gotten dramatically worse. Even Swarzak is a better starting option.
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Six runs in the first two innings. At what point do the fans just stop showing up?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Yeah, this is pretty bad, and it really is about the lefty-righty splits. It's ridiculous. I'm OK with the attempt, and now it needs to end... but who starts?
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 It's okay, this is the '88 A's he's facing.
snepp Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 http://yukaripeerless.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/White-Flag.jpg
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 There was no reason to ever stretch him out and try this again.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Another Twins starter throwing batting practice I see. Good grief.
