Thats about a 150 foot throw, if the fielder is alert it's still a tough play as that example proved.  If the fielder is napping it's an easy run.  With 2 outs the risk is minimal. 

 

In game 7 of the world series last year Nate Silver ran the #'s and came up with Alex Gordon should of tried to score despite the fact the cutoff man had the ball as he was rounding 3rd.
