Would people want Justin back?

If a trade happens and Plouffe is moved, would it be a bad idea to bring back Morneau. (That is if he is healthy)

I only ask because I use to love what he brought to the team. I understand he is not the same player but maybe the M&M boys will bring Mauer back to life. Good against right handed pitching and when it is a lefty we can bring in some young blood.

If players perform close to their potential I don't see us needing another platoon type of player next year. And the help from a steady bat with old clubhouse presence might help. With Vargas and Arcia hurting at the bigs this year, a DH/1B might be needed.

Next year.

(1) Hicks/ Buxton LF/CF

(2) Dozier 2B

(3) Mauer 1B

(4) Sano 3B

(5) DH

(6) Rosario RF

(7) Hicks/ Buxton LF/CF

(8) Sazuki C

(9) Santana SS

Bench

Polonco.

Kepler.

Hermann/ Pinto or a better back up.

Escobar.

If you think other changes will happen for 2016 feel free to post what you like, want, or wish.

I wish we wouldn't have had to get rid of him in the first place, but we did. Now he doesn't fit on the team if he is even going to be playing anymore.

Last I heard, he was done for the season with that concussion.  I like Morneau, one of my all time favorites, but I think his career is over.

I thought I had read somewhere that the neck was a big issue again as well.  Sadly,I think for his long term health and well being he should probably retire.  He seems to be one bump away from being one of those ex-athletes who will have difficulty doing normal tasks by the time he is 50.

I kind of agree with this. I also wish that baseball did the one-day-contract thing the NFL does so he could retire a Twin. I always really enjoyed Morneau.

Oh the Twins have a version of this.  They call it a minor league contract with a spring training invite, though last year they actually made Kubel, Bartlett and Guerrier suit up.  It was pretty clear they weren't expecting that!

I would take him back if the roster was setup differently going forward but even if Plouffe is traded there really isn't room for a DH type on the roster.

Yeah, Justin is a great guy.  I was really glad when he won the NL batting championship last year.  I hope he has another good year in him somewhere, seems Colorado is the perfect place for him.
