  1. He has good numbers out of the pen this year, and he would be a second LHP out of the pen that I think would help take the load off Rogers. He would also be cheap. I am not suggesting it be the only move we make.
  2. What do people think about the twins bringing back Francisco Liriano? Rogers could use some help against LHP and he will be excepted by the fans well. Thoughts
  3. If he was ever truly considered #64 overall, it was brief and a decidedly minority opinion. The point that I was trying to make is still stands. many thought highly of him, not just those of us on TD.
  4. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2017/?list=prospects He was #64 and Gordon was #30. He was lower in 2016 with Jay high on that list
  5. So you don’t remember him as a Top 100 prospect for a few years in a row topping out in the 60’s range (if I remember correctly)
  6. I would make no one “off limits”, look at how Gordon’s stock completely dropped out. It can happen to any prospect at any level. That is why they are a prospect. Now a FO more than likely will have an “out of the question” price tag on a few guys but I think the real question is to trade Sano. I think Sano can real in a big name in a trade. I know he reminds everyone of Big Papi (twin fans will never forget), but I am starting to think he is just never going to live up to the hype/ stay healthy unless he is strictly DH. Also is he that important to the team winning/ will he ever sign to stay with the team, should also be considered. I would love to have a big name ACE in front of Berrios. Also a LHP in the starting rotation would be nice.
  7. Think it is time to say good bye to Ehire Adrianza. He was fun to watch last year but you are having younger guys with better bats step up. Arraez has some versatility and is a better bat off the bench. I’m not as sold on Gordon as others, but I would be ok if he got a look (if an injury occurred).
  8. So with the trade.... I like it, but don't like to see Gibson sent down for the 44 year old who has had 2 games and can't get past 5 innings of work!!! Also Gibson just had his best game over 7 innings of work. His ERA this month would look better if the runners left on wouldn't all score when our pen takes over!
  9. Well Santiago was great to start the year but has taken a beating outside of his hot start. Hope the DL time gets him back to first month form. Gibson has been good as of late. 4.24 in June, and his last start is better then what shows on paper. I think he has been putting it together as of late and still see his capability as a 3 type. Dozier has been better than "meh" above average in every category is not "meh" Also I'm not saying that we sell anyone. I say we shop them to see what we can get. Don't take anything less than what they are worth. But all of them are having great years. This would be a sell high type situation. But if we don't sell then it is time to invest a little in this season and on that young group.
  10. If we are not selling then see if we can get Hamels. But I just like his lefty and Leadership.
  11. The twins have been blowing away expectations and most are starting to expect more. Let's first start with the players that are doing well: Santana, Berrios, mejia, Rogers, Joe, Dozier, Rosario, Kepler, and Grossman. Castro great calling games and Buxton with everything since his bat has come alive. Hildenberger in SSS but like what I see. Minors that are showing up to play: Curtiss, Reed, Baxendale, Nick Anderson, Gonsalves, Van Steensel, Gordon, Chris Paul, Sam Clay, Hackimer, Muren, Palacios, Jaylin Davis, Hector Lujan and Max Murphy. The bad: Belisle, Breslow, Pressly, Hughes, Haley, Santiago, Gibson to start the season, Gimenez, and Polonco as of late. all can be cut but Polonco, and Gibson. Still see Gibson helping in the future. Every game Gimenez calls the pitching is trash...coincidence? People that should take over now: Murphy for Gimenez. Let Garver catch. Am I the only one worried that he hasn't been catching on a regular basis the last 2 years. See what JRM has and let Garver continue to play every day. Keep Vargas up. And keep showing some young guys in the pen. Short leash on Colon, and Boshers. Curtiss has been red hot and should be up before the years end. On the trade deadline: shop Kintzler, Santana, Dozier, and Rosario heavy. But don't let them go cheap. I like the young core we have put together, keep them but everyone else is free to trade. Would like to see us get someone like Cole Hamels. Think the young guys need to have a winning season and the FO to show they believe in them. Cut the deadwood on the 40 because next year we will need the room for other prospects that are running out of time. May, Jay, Burdi, Stewart, and Chargois had big "show me years" but injuries have not helped this group. Hope they show up to play next year.
  12. Look at JT's numbers last year, or JJ last year. The young guys need some adjustment time. Give them time to settle down from the nerves of there call up.
  13. I could understand if we got him or other great players, if we had a few great players in place. That said we have great talent, but maybe a move like this works in a few years. But would you trade away some possibly great starting players or a potential #2 pitchers for a 30+ year old catcher RIGHT NOW! (Pointless)
  14. First Lee has already put out that he will only go to a contender, if he comes back. Holland might also be done with his professional career, time will tell on the healing process. Last of all, Lucroy, great player and I would love to see him in a twins uniform. With that said, it would cost to much to get him, and it would be pointless if we are not making a playoff run.
  15. He has yet to prove that he can pitch for this team, also "our best" is a bold statement when you are looking at the numbers, our beat might be Nolasco. Never thought I would utter that sentence
  16. And they have no utility guy*
  17. Little confused on why all of our players have no trade value.... Do we not understand how baseball works? Somehow Correia has trade value but a allstar year player (Nunez) has none whatsoever!
  18. Might be able to talk a trade giving up Nunez, Sazuki, and possibly a prospect like Stewart. Once again like I said that would be who I target, and who our current players have the best shot at making a difference to bring back something. In the post I'm not suggesting that it is a player for player swapping game, but the players I put out are names I start the conversation out at. Others might be had to sweeten the pot.
  19. Walking a rookie to get to your DH..... And Ryan can't see a problem with that? Molitor made the right call, he is doing his job to win games. ( although he has had other situations where he has made terrible decisions) pulling Meyer so soon in his first start and batting a struggling Dozier in the top 3, are what come to mind. The article didn't help with my opinion on Ryan that is for sure.
  20. C'mon! I would move Plouffe, he is just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kind of like whoever was the Vikings wide receiver when Randy Moss arrived. Are you referring to Chris Carter? Because unless I was taking crazy pills, I remember both doing well!
  21. A few moves I would look to make as a GM. Also With this post im not looking at getting or selling all the guys on this list, but this is the list of names I bring up when I make that first call. Red Soxs________Twins SP. Santana______Rei OF. Santana______Lakins With E. Santana we might get away with the salary dump, mostly cuz it is the Soxs. Seattle________Twins Nunez________ Zunino Sazuki________Altavilla,Yarbrough Mets__________Twins Plouffe________ Smoker Nunez_________ Muzeika KC__________ Twins Plouffe_______Strahm Nunez________Fernandez, O'Hearn Abad, Grossman, Vargas, Park might be the only real trade worthy pieces. (not counting our future guys) Unless a contending team as their 2nd baseman go to the DL I don't think you will hear anything worth while for Dozier, and I'm not sold on the idea Polonco can't play SS. But I would take the right deal on Dozier.
  22. I like the fact that he was willing to address the problem. He understands what fans are going to think/ or already have been thinking. Having addressed the elephant in the room was a good to see from a player. Unlike Nolasco, both Santana and Perk seem to have a little pride and understand that they have more expectations after a big contract. The reason I say that is the way they seem to handle themselves after having a bad outing and the way they handle themselves during the game. Earlier in the year Nolasco (roughly translated) it happens and I look forward to the next start. To me the comment came off as nonchalant.
  23. I find it hard to believe that not a sole is looking at this group. I think Nunez needs to go. He wants a full time job and the Molitor has been on record a few time saying he is playing well but he is not sold on the idea of him as an everyday player. This could be trouble if he starts to ride the pine in the future. When we played Seattle I noticed that Cano and Nunez seemed to get along well. Could we make a move for Zunino? Maybe give them Nunez and Sazuki? Feel like it could be a win- win. Seattle is around .500 and could use both players for getting them back in the race. Plouffe and the health problems would be hard to unload, I think keeping him might be for the best, if park is heading to AAA, use Mauer/Sano/Plouffe combo like last year. It could work for this year and possibly next unless Park/vargas/Walker make it clear they are ready to take over DH, but that would be a future problem. As for Polonco, he was known for his glove as a prospect, and now he "can't" hold down short? I seem to remember a great throw in one of his only games at short this year, looked like he unleashed the cannon on the play. Who is it going to hurt to bring him up and rotate him in with Dozier and Escobar. If he makes some mistakes big deal, not like any of our pitching staff is up for a Cy Young Award!!
  24. I didn't address the problem of the "big 3" at all. But I will say we could still get some good innings out of Santana. Hughes will never be the same player (he has lost to much speed on his fastball) and Nolasco has been arguably our best this year, but needs to go. I am not saying if we get rid of them all that we can put together a great rotation, but can it really get much worse? The previous 3 can only muster about 1 out of 5 quality starts. But let's be honest, the Nolasco and Hughes, contracts would take a miracle to unload on another team, that only leaves Santana. And if we can move him I say we pull the trigger. Let the younger (cheaper) guys fight for it.
  25. Also I haven't looked into who will need to be protected this off season. That will play into the decisions for the 40 man roster. Has anyone looked into who will be on that list?
