ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Todays ugly game and all around circus is a direct result from yesterdays comeback and than fizzle reaction to Perkins blowing another game. This Twins team is taking too many gutt punches, will be 2-10 coming out of the All star break. With that many upper cuts from the bullpen(3 highly winnable games blown) it is very unlikely this Twins team will even stay in the Wild card race. They might not even finish 500 or with a winning record. Writing is on the proverbial wall this team is starting to circle the bowl. Worst part about it is that the GM knew this bullpen was a complete Sh!T show from the start of the season and signed worthless Stauffer peeing away resources and opportunity that should have went to someone else.I'm no fan of the Twins GM (Ryan will never win a World Series as Twins GM), but I would rescind all and any deals offered out there. This Twins team is proving they do not really deserve any outside of the organization help. Torri Hunter I suspect although he has played admirably well, you had to know that the GM saw him as an August trade candidate and flip from the beginning. Hunter will relent and move on to a contender in August. The fun ride while it lasted was fun, now it is time to play taps on the 2015 season and raise the white flag. Hopefully they can regroup and rebuild the catcher, short stop and bullpen this offseason.Twins are August sellers for a player like Pelfrey and Hunter, not a contender. The whole team is concussed. I'm not sure any team really wants Torii Hunter down the stretch. He's played ok, but not very well.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 It will totally be a self fulfilling prophecy too..... "see, they weren't good enough to worry about adding players for this year", as if adding a legit RP weeks ago wouldn't have prevented some of this. I blame Molitor also. His use of May and Graham is very, very bad......
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 LOL this water carrying has reached new heights. "Well if the bullpen was pitching better, than Ryan wouldn't appear as desperate to get RP help via trade"
mickeymental Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 yikes -- last time i looked, which wasn't that long ago, twins were up 3-1. well, at least they might get a chance to see deolis ...
davidc3915 Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Doesn't Torri have a no trade clause?
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 The MLB highlight is titled "McCutchen's Little League Homer." Sheesh. What a demoralizing few series.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 JHC, just let Boyer stay out there and take his beating. Don't waste another pitcher.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Doesn't Torri have a no trade clause? He does indeed.
Loosey Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I know this season has been a success from a wins standpoint (the Twins exceeded expectations to this point) but Terry Ryan has proven over and over this season he is not a good GM. It's almost as if the team stayed afloat until now despite TR's terrible management of the roster. For months they were playing with fire in the bullpen and didn't do anything to help. Now nearing the trade deadline the Bullpen has gone into a complete collapse and Terry just sat on his hands. He needed a catcher for this season and beyond, yet has done nothing about it. He also could use a SS, but again has done nothing about it. He hasn't addressed how to make this years team better or how to improve the team the next few years. I'm sure he is a great human being, but he really needs to go. He didn't take advantage of a season that came out of nowhere in a week league, he just signed old veterans to minor league contracts like he was trying to make Rochester and Chattanooga better.

Loosey Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Why not put in May and tell him to pitch the rest of the game? Give the guy the ball in some aspect of the game. I know it's garbage time, but seriously, he throws about 20 pitches a week after being top 3 starter on this team easily. I don't get it and it's starting to drive me crazy!
rghrbek Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 How you know Shane Robinson shouldn't be on your team: they bring a LHer out of the pen to face him. And he K's. Agreed. The bottom 4 of Nunez, Esco, Suzuki and Robinson, does not instill a lot of fear.

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Bringing in a RHP to face Rosario? Make him pay Eddie!
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 At least hicks and sano have looked great again today, I couldn't even imagine how bleak things would be if both were slumping. That sano at bat was fantastic.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Thanks for nothing today Eddie, grab some pine for a day or two.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Not a single pitch to Rosario was a strike.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Sooooooooooo you won't PH with Hunter here and the bases loaded?
rghrbek Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Bases juiced, 2 out (after Eddie whifs), and we have to go with Nunez, because we have no other options...shame. That 4 runners left in scoring position between Nunez and Robinson.
Loosey Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Jeez. At least pretend you're trying to win the game. Make a move to get a better hitter in there in that scenario.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Why the **** do you refuse to PH?!?!?!?!?
Loosey Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Why the **** do you refuse to PH?!?!?!?!?Is there a stat for PH's used? If so, the Twins may have the least of any team in the league. Seriously, they never bring in a PH even if a scenario says to do it.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 O'Rourke in for consecutive innings. I assume that means he won't be available tomorrow to face a LH hitter in a big spot. Well played, Molly.

Well played, Molly. You can't go half-assed when you are trying to let May rot in the pen. You have to go full out to make sure not to use him.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Surely you can't mean that. I guess you're right. I don't mean that. But um, please don't call me Shirley... (not as funny in text, is it...) Alright now... Let's load the bases again in the 8th!
