Mike made a comment, yesterday I think, that went somewhat unnoticed but deserves further consideration:  When it comes to Mauer, the Twins need to show some courage.

We'll see it they have it.

Isn't it ironic that this is the year we wished he was injured and would go on the DL for an indeterminate length of time?

So Mauer just stands in the box and doesn't swing now? I mean, I am only going off gamecast, since I am working......

I thought it was a ball, looked pretty low, but perhaps gamecast showed it differently.

I feel bad for the Twins Starting Pitchers - they've kept the team in the game for most of this long run of losses, but the offense just hasn't shown up. Gibson is gonna have to mash his own taters, I guess.

Will he come to bat again?

He got a single, but got stranded.

He's got hisself a quality start, for what it means.

Last night he didn't swing. Today I think both strikeouts are looking......is he just not swinging?

Two games in a row Mauer takes the safe route instead of the force at 2nd, and both cost us a run.  When runs are as hard to get as they are for us now, that's taking a step backwards.

I didn't catch the first couple pitches as I stepped away but saw the last pitch. Looked low enough that I do not blame him for not swinging. He even argued with the ump about it. The first K was swinging and his other AB was a rather weak groundout.

Regardless of whether he is swinging or not, something needs to change with him. He is hitting .188/.291/.271 halfway through June. That will not cut it especially from the 3-hole.

From what I read in your descriptions, it sounds like Joe should go through the concussion protocol now, and try to head off any possibly worse side effects.

And this isn't because I'm trying to get rid of him; there may be a subtle effect going on here that affects both vision and decision-making.

Wonder if any of the MD's on the site would give some thoughts, with us understanding they would be at best speculative?

Suzuki got Nunez in, to bring it down to 1 run (sounds like last night) but alas, Vargas as PH grounded out...

We still got us a chance. We can score one run, 'specially with Buxton leadin' off.

Sad, that runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs is the time to get up and get a beer, rather than a commercial coming on...

You have to get up?

Me thinks this situation could be improved upon...

Describe the INF hit for those "watching" on gamecast.....pls.

Line up the middle the pitcher batted towards the 3rd base line, where the catcher picked it up to hold him to a single.
